What the hell just happened? I haven't cried since I was twelve. Literally all I was doing was answering questions. Isn't that what you're supposed to do? I don't understand high-school already.

I walk out of the stall like nothing happened, splashing some cold water on my face. As soon as I walked out I'm getting attacked in a hug by Maria.

"I'm sorry, Lexi."

What the hell? She wasn't even in the classroom. She was in Adam's class? Whoever that is.

"Sorry for what? Nothing's wrong." I lie.

She gives me a look, gently pushing my arm.

"You're a terrible liar."

I look down at the tile floor, shrugging my shoulders. She wraps me in another hug, rubbing my back soothingly. I hug her back before hearing yelling from the principal's office. I forgot Washington was also the principal, he only taught the honors class in the morning and that was it.

"Detention for what! I didn't do shit!"

Maria and I pull away from each other, looking around sheepishly.

"Well, I have to get back to class. Peggy told me you were upset."

So that's how she knew.

"Okay."

"We're all going to go out to a coffee shop for coffee and doughnuts for lunch. I know it's not the healthiest but too bad."

"If Laurens is going I'm not going."

"Got it!" She chirps before walking back to her classroom.

How can she be so chipper?

At the end of Washington's class he calls me over to his desk once everyone left. I sat down nervously, playing with my hands and the end of my hoodie sleeve.

"Sir, I don't know what you heard but whatever it is Laurens started it."

He chuckles at me before shaking his head.

"You two are more alike then you'd like to admit. Anyway, I hope your stay here brightens up. Laurens is going through a lot, and I'm sure you are too. Just try and get along with each other. For that sole reason, I put you and him together for the group project."

I blink at him for a while before laughing.

"That's a good one! Heh, you really had me there."

"Son,"

"Ha! Don't call me son."

"Exactly why I said you two are more alike then you'd like to admit. Now, don't worry, I put three other people in that group with you two so you don't beat each other to a pulp. Hercules Mulligan, Peggy, and Lafayette. I'm not even going to try and pronounce the rest of his name. Anyway, you're dismissed. Here's a pass to your next class."
