Oikawa laid flat on his face in the middle of his bed, mumbling curse words under his breath.

The brown-haired angel turned onto his side, glaring at his white, white wall. For the first time ever since becoming an angel, his humanity level had risen. But how? How was that possible? Not only that, but memories had flashed in his head, lots of them, unfocused but definitely real...recollections of his life as a human?

"Could I be that meeting Iwaizumi...no...that's certainly not possible at all." Oikawa murmured, turning onto his other side.

"It is very much possible."

"Ah! You scared me! What are you doing in my room all of a sudden?" Oikawa snapped at the smirking black-haired angel in the corner of the room.

"Kōshi told me to check on you," Kuroo responded, sitting down slowly onto Oikawa's bed.

The other angel didn't respond, still lost in thought, and Kuroo sighed.

"Anything you want to talk about, Torū?"

Oikawa shrugged, and Kuroo frowned slightly, looking at the brown-haired angel with a hint of empathy.

"I know it's hard. It was hard for me too, and to make things worse, I had no one to ask for advice; Kōshi and I started our missions as the first angels at the Cloud 9 Vicinity. But you have me and the rest of the angels to share your troubles with, so why don't you try talking a bit?"

There was a brief moment of silence, before Oikawa coughed awkwardly.

"Well you see...something's been bothering me."

"Mhmm?"

"A week ago, a day before I returned back to The Above, the human I'm supposed to be helping-Iwaizumi-said some things. When he said those things, my head began to hurt, and I some images that I don't recall ever seeing before flashed in my brain. I don't know what they mean."
"You're recalling your life as a human." Kuroo said abruptly, which caused Oikawa to turn around.

"Something triggered your memories. All angels lose a portion of their memory when they ascend to The Above. It varies for different angels, some lose a lot, some lose very little. In your case it seems like you've lost most of it...I can help you if you tell me about the things you remember."

Oikawa frowned,

"I am uncomfortable with sharing my emotions and worries."

The black-haired angel shrugged, "That's fine. Just take your time. It was like that for all of us. Once you restart as an angel with a humanity level of 60%, which is, by the way, what all new angels start with, it becomes hard to talk to others."

Oikawa thought about this, and sighed.

"Very well. I only remember three things..."
Kuroo nodded in brief encouragement, and Oikawa furrowed his brows as he swallowed his nervousness.

"I had a childhood friend. I met him on the 16th of March in 2008. I also remembered that I drowned to death. My only truly vivid and clear memory is of my death. I still remember how terrible it felt to feel all the oxygen escape my body."

Oikawa shuddered slightly.

"I don't remember my childhood friend's face. I just remember that we were only together for about one week, before he stopped showing up. Three days later, I drowned."

Kuroo smiled, "See? You opened up to someone for the first time. Do you feel better?"

"Uh, no," Oikawa replied curtly, "if anything, I just feel worse. Why can't I remember my childhood friend at all? I can't even remember his name."
