Half way through the flight, I woke up from my nap, put my headphones in and continued to read my book from earlier. I put my hand on my stomach and felt it rumble. I'm so hungry, I thought. I asked mum for a snack and she gave me a bag of red frogs she had gotten me for the flight. I read for a few hours then fell asleep whilst I was reading.

"Amy, honey." Mum said, gently shaking my shoulder.

I opened my eyes and looked at her.

"What?" I mumbled.

"Where here." She replied. A small smile on her face.

I looked out the window and saw the wet, grey asphalt. There were other planes that had landed earlier waiting for their next flight. I got out of my seat and followed mum down the isle. As I walked down the steps, I looked around. Surrounding the airport was bright blue water. It looked incredible. We walked into the airport and found an empty row of seats.

"Everyone wait here, my new boss sent a car to pick us up." Dad informed all of us.

We all nodded. I still had my headphones in and my phone was almost flat. I looked around, everyone that walked past us, stared. I figured it was because they could here my brothers talking and excitedly yelling at each other, us having Australian accents and all. The driver came and got us and took us to our new house. I didn't know where it was, all I knew was that it was in a suburb near Toronto.

After about an hours drive we pulled up to a two story brick house. It was beautiful. The roof was a bluey, grey, charcoal colour and the sandstone coloured bricks had a very nice contrast against the grey roof. All the windows were quite large and the frames were a soft cream colour. The front door was a charcoal rectangle and had one large piece of frosted glass in the middle, covering almost the entire door. I hauled my suitcase out of the trunk and slung my backpack over my shoulder. I looked at mum and gave her a small smile. She smiled weakly at me in return. Together we walked up to the front door and put the key in the silver lock. She pushed open the door and walked inside. The entrance was a large open room that went straight up to the actual ceiling. The stair case went up in a curve and had a small balcony at the top with a black iron railing following the curve upward. Light cream carpet lined the floor and the walls were a similar light cream colour.

I let go of my suitcase handle and sprinted up the stairs, searching for the best room. I got to the top of the stairs and saw 7 doors. One of the doors had a note on it that read 'master bedroom', so I knew that was off limits. I looked in every single one from right to left. There was one bathroom, a linen closet and 5 bedrooms. By the time I had finished looking around, my brothers ran up the stairs. I quickly ran into the room I had chosen and dumped my bag on the floor. I pulled out a note pad and pen and wrote a note saying 'Amy's room' and stuck it on my door with some tape I found in my pencil case. I calmly walked down stairs. Maybe this won't be so bad. I thought to myself. I struggled to find the kitchen, but found it eventually. The kitchen and dining room were one big room.

"Amy can you please find all your boxes and take them up to your room." Mum asked me from the kitchen.

"Sure mum." I replied.

I looked toward the dining room end of the room and saw that the entire wall was covered in boxes. Before we had left dad had sent a majority of our stuff over here. I found three boxes straight away that had my name on them in green permanent marker. I picked up the first one and took it up to my room.

I put the box down on the floor and opened it up. It was full of my bed sheets and pillows. Yes! I thought. I went back downstairs and found my dad.

"Dad, is my bed frame here?" I asked him.

"Yeah it is, go look in the lounge room." I looked at him blankly.

"First door on the right." He said.

"Right." I said, pointing at him.

I walked back inside and found the first door on the right. Sure enough there was my white metal, girly looking bed frame, leaning up against a wall. I picked up one of the end pieces and the nuts and bolts that held the bed frame together and carried it up to my room. I placed it against the wall where I wanted my bed to go. I proceeded to bring up all the pieces to my bed frame up to my room, then began to assemble it. I went downstairs, found my mattress and hauled it up to my new room. I picked some sheets from the box and covered my naked mattress with them. I made the rest of my bed and already felt so much better. One by one I collected the boxes from the dining room, took them up to my room and unpacked them. By 7:30pm I had unpacked all my boxes, put away whatever I could and everything else I had sorted into boxes, ready to figure out what to do with them later.

"Dinner!!!" Mum yelled.

I ran downstairs to the kitchen, surprised to see 3 pizza boxes sitting on the kitchen bench. Yum!!!!! I took 2 slices of pizza and sat on the floor of the dining room to eat. I finished my pizza and went back up to my room, saying goodnight to my family as I left. I put on some pj's and climbed into bed. I thought about all my friends back home. A single tear fell from my eye. I miss you already!!! I quietly said to my friends picture I had put on my bedside table. Goodnight. It felt so good to fall asleep in a bed. I can make this work. I thought to myself. I have to, for Dad.
