We walked through the school halls for a while, until we came to another set of double doors.
"These are the back doors of the school, they lead out onto the oval." Shawn said. He must have known what I was thinking.
"My friends and I normally meet outside on the stands. If it's not raining." He added.
I kept quiet and nodded in response. He pushed open the doors, that were hiding a large green football field. There was a small group of students all standing in the middle of the field. Shawn grabbed my hand and started pulling me towards the group of students. I started to panic, I can't do this, not with that many people. I ripped my hand out of Shawn's grasp, falling back a few paces. He turned around and looked at me worriedly.
I wanted to tell him that I couldn't do it, but no words would come out. My heart was racing and my palms were quickly, gathering sweat. Shawn came up to me and placed his hands on my arms. My eyes began to water, I turned around and started walking back towards the school. I Felt Shawn grab my forearm, he turned me back around to face him, with my eyes still watering. He placed his warm hands on my cheeks and looked deeply into my eyes.
"What's wrong? Are you okay?" He asked me with concern in his voice.
I looked back to the group of students, who had luckily not noticed us, then back to Shawn.
"I can't do this." I quietly said, my eyes threatening to let the tears run.
A single tear came rolling down my cheek. The pad of his thumb gently whipping it away.
"You don't have to if you don't want to, we can go back inside, just the two of us." He said softly to me.
I nodded as the tears began to fall. Shawn pulled me into a hug, I snuggled my head into his chest as he placed his chin on the top of my head.
"Let's go inside." He whispered softly.
We walked back into the school, Shawn's arm around me again, and decided to go to home room early. The door was slightly opened, when we arrived, but no one was in the room.
"So... Welcome to home room." Shawn said, walking around with his arms spread out, gesturing towards everything. A smile spread across my face and I giggled.
"There's that beautiful smile again!!" Shawn exclaimed, coming back over to me and hugging me.
RRRRIIIIIIINNNNNNNNNGGGGGGGG!!!!!! The bell screamed at us.
I jumped out of my skin, my heart racing again. Shawn just looked at me and laughed.
"That was not funny!!!" I said punching his arm, lightly.
"Yes it was!!! You were laughing, then your eyes almost popped out of your head!!" He said still laughing.
"Well, I'm guessing your Abby?" A stern male voice said, interrupting Shawn's laughter.
"Ummm.... It's Amy, but yeah, that's me." I said quietly.
"Hi sir." Shawn said.
The old teacher gave Shawn and I, a dirty look, then walked over to his desk at the front of the class room.
"Could you please take your seats, also it's nice to have you with us Emily." He said without looking back to us.
Shawn and I walked to the middle of the room and sat down across the isle from each other.
"Sir it's Amy." Shawn corrected the teacher.
"I see your rudeness hasn't left." The old teacher began to write on the black chalk board behind his desk.
"Sorry Mr. Robertson." Shawn said quietly.
With the conversation ending between Mr. Robertson, Shawn and I, other students started slowly coming into the room. Shawn lent across the isle and looked at me.
"You okay?" He asked sternly.
"Yeah." I replied, not quiet sure if that was true or not.
I noticed that I saw getting some where looks from some of the other students. Shawn lent across the isle again.
"Don't worry about what anyone else thinks of you, okay?" He said.
"It's just everyone's giving me weird looks." I said, with sadness in my voice.
"Their only giving you weird looks because they don't realise how amazing and beautiful you are." Heat came rushing into my cheeks, I gave Shawn a small smile.
Just then, a guy with sandy blonde hair and a black hoodie sat in front of Shawn, then turned around in his seat.
"Hey buddy!!! Where were your this morning?" The blonde guy said to Shawn, giving him a high five.
"Hi Peter." (I don't actually know if he has a friend called peter, but just go with it)
Shawn replied, returning Peter's high five.
"I was helping out Amy." Shawn said, gesturing towards me.
"Peter this is Amy, Amy this is Peter."
Peter looked at me and smiled. He stuck out his hand for me to shake it.
"Hi, it's nice to finally meet you Amy!!" I shook his hand and gave Shawn a weird look.
"Shawn here's been telling us all about you, ever since he first met you." Peter said with confidence.
Shawn glared at Peter, then smiled at me.
"Don't worry about him, he's just a weirdo." He said with a smirk on his face.
"Hey!!! Says you, Mr. I'm gonna tell them everything about her.!!" Peter said.
Mr. Robertson began to mark the roll and five minutes later the bell ran.
I opened up my locker and checked my timetable for what class I had first. Ancient history!! Yes, I'm actually good at ancient history. I got out the correct books, my pencil case and my glasses. As I closed my locker Shawn put his arm around my shoulders again.
"Excited for ancient history?" He asked
"Yeah!! I love ancient history." I said excitedly.
Shawn laughed and together we walked to ancient history.
It was quite a small class room compared to home room. A few people were already seated when we got to class. Shawn pointed to a random desk and said I could sit there with him right behind me. I sat down and put my stuff on the desk.
"Hey!! Are you Amy?" A brunette girl asked me.
"Yeah." I said shyly.
"Hey Leia." Shawn said from over my shoulder.
"I'm Leia." The girl said extending out her hand.
"It's nice to meet you." I replied shaking her hand.
"So are you really from Australia?" She asked me.
All I could do was nod my head.
"Wow!! That's sick!" She said excitedly.
"I suppose so..." I said quietly
A middle aged woman, with black hair and olive skin entered the class room. Her skirt was a cheetah printed, midi length body con and her black blouse had ruffles on the sleeves. Her hair was pinned back into a low pony tail and her nude pumps, looked like they were to small for her feet.
"Hello class, how are you all today?" She asked very happily.
"I presume you all know that we have a new student joining us today?" The class of about 13 people all turned around and looked at me.
"Amy?" The teacher had the roll in her hands, whilst she searched the foo for me.
"Ahhh, there you are darling. Is it true that your from Australia?" She asked calmly.
"Umm....Yeah, I am." I wanted to go and hide behind Shawn.
"Well, a very big welcome to you dear. I hope your enjoying Canada so far." She smiled at me, then sat down at her desk. The rest of the day was a blur. Shawn and I got put together to do an ancient history assignment together, In science I got put with a friend of Shawn's who's name was Henry, he's really nice, which was good, and in English we watched romeo and Juliet. I'd done romeo and Juliet 3 times already in Australia so I knew the entire story.
At lunch I met the rest of Shawn's friends and got asked lots of questions. By the time I got home all I wanted to do was curl up in bed and read. So that's exactly what I did. I face timed Shawn for a while, had dinner then went to bed.*************
Sorry about the bad ending to the chapter, but I hope you enjoyed it.
I was thinking that when I finish this book, I could write it again but in Shawn's point of view.
Yay or nay?
