I woke up at 6:30am the following day. My first day of school. I got up, turned off my alarm and clumsily walked down stairs to the kitchen. My mind was racing, what if they don't like me? What if the teachers hate me? What if they all think I'm weird cause of my accent? I poured some cereal into a bowl and added milk and a tea spoon of sugar. I couldn't even get the spoon in my mouth properly cause I was shaking so much. I finally finished my breakfast and went back up stairs to get changed. It was freezing outside so I put on a pairs of light wash skinny jeans with a pair of opaque tights on underneath, a black long sleeve and a blue, grey, black and white flannel over the top and to finish it all off my white high top converse. I did a light layer of make up, grabbed a few new school books I had brought with me from Australia, my pencil case, my new book I was reading, my phone, my glasses and stuffed them all into my tie dye backpack. (Now my school bag) I went back down stairs, packed some lunch, a water bottle and my house keys. I zipped up my bag, then there was a knock at the door. I put my backpack on and walked, nervously to the front door. I opened the door, my eyes met a familiar face and I instantly began to relax. I said goodbye to mum and shut the front door behind me.

"Hey, you ready for school?" Shawn asked me as we walked down the street towards the bus stop.
"Ready as I'll ever be" I said
Shawn looked at me and frowned.
"What's wrong?" He asked
"I'm just so nervous!!" I said awkwardly
Shawn but his arm around my shoulders and slightly squeezed me.
"Your gonna be fine Amy!!" He told me
I managed a small grin. He left his arm around my shoulders until we got to the bus stop.

It was a small banged up looking dog house, but human sized. There was only one other person sitting on the weathered looking bench in the bus stop. She looked older than Shawn and I, her hair was a dark maroon colour and she was dressed from head to toe in black, including the case on the phone she was holding. We sat down on the opposite side of the bench to her, She didn't even look up from her phone.

I could feel Shawn's leg brushing against mine. I didn't mind it though. One of my hands was resting on the bench in between us. I felt a soft, warm hand cover the back of my hand. I looked down only to see that Shawn's hand was right on top. I looked up at him, he looked down at our hands, then back to me, he flashed his award winning smile at me.

"Your hand was looking a little purple." He said. I let out a small giggle. I could feel the heat in my cheeks.

"The bus is here!" He said excitedly.

He jumped up from the bench, I slowly stood up beside him and looked down the street. A large yellow bus was coming towards us. As it got closer it began to pull up to the curb and slow down. Shawn looked down at me

"you ready?" I gulped.
"I guess so."

The bus stopped I front of the bus stop and the door swung open, revealing a old, hairy man sitting in the drivers seat. The girl in the black practically leaped onto the bus, Shawn got on after her and I followed him.

The inside of the bus looked run down and well used. Most of the stormy blue, leather seats had rips in them, with their insides not hesitating to flow out. There were only a few people on the bus, other then the girl in black, and Shawn and I.

Shawn strode up to the middle of the bus, with me hot on his heels, he swung himself into a two seater seat, that only had one rip exposing the yellow foam inside. I sat down next to him and looked out the window.

He looked at me, giving me a reassuring look and intertwined our fingers. His hands felt warm and soft against my cold dry ones.

The bus began to pull back out onto the street and slowly accelerated.

"Hey, it's alright." Shawn said to me, wrapping his arm around my shoulder and rubbing it.
I looked down and noticed my knees were shaking.

"What are you so worried about?" He continued to rub my shoulder. It seemed to be making me relax.
"That no one will like me and they'll make fun of my accent." I said quietly.

"Firstly they are gonna love you just like I do. And secondly your accent is the most adorable thing on this planet, if someone doesn't like it, always remember that I do."

I looked up to Shawn, who was staring deeply into my eyes. I could feel the heat rushing into my cheeks. Shawn's arm was still over my shoulders, but he used it to pull me closer to him. I put my head on his shoulder as he kissed the top of my head.

After that my stomach wasn't its normal self.

***********
The bus pulled up to a tan coloured building. A majority of the walls were covered in large glass windows with dark blue pieces surrounding them. I got up from the seat and walked down the bus, making sure the Shawn was right behind me. I hopped off the bus and Shawn got off next to me. The were kids everywhere, it looked like an unorganised rainbow. (In Australia everyone that goes to school where's a uniform.) Shawn put his arm back around my shoulders and started leading me though the maze of students. We weren't that far away from the front doors, but everyone kept walking in front of us and getting in the way. Shawn carefully pushed open the large, dark blue double doors. We came I to a large hallway, on either side were tall, blue lockers running down the whole expanse of the wall.

Shawn took his arm off my shoulder and held open a small door for me, that had a sign on it reading office. I walked up to the front desk. There was a small, chubby lady wearing a bright yellow cardigan on the other side. I felt Shawn come up next to me and place his hand on the small of my back, between my backpack.

"Umm..... Excuse me." Shawn said, whilst clearing his throat.

The small lady looked up and gave us a huge grin.

"Oh, hello there dears, how can I help you?"

"Ummm, this is Amy, she's new to our school and it's her first day today." Shawn told the lady.

"Oh yes, Amy it's. Ice to meet you. Are you the Australian one?" She asked me excitedly.
"Ahh... Yeah." Was all I could manage.
"Great, well the principle wanted to see you and welcome you, but unfortunately he's not here right at this moment. But he left me with everything he needed to give you."

She hands me a small stack of papers.

"Now your timetable is there, a map of the school, your locker number and a few other bits and pieces, but I'm sure you can help her with all that young man." She said to Shawn.

He nodded in reply.

"Great!! Well have a good day, if anything goes wrong don't hesitate to come and ask me for help." She gave us a kind smile and we exited the room.

********
"Ok first things first." Shawn said. He started to flick through all the papers that were in my hands.
"Hah got it!!" He exclaimed.
"Locker 302. That's two lockers away from mine."
We began to walk down the hallway and made a right at the first conjoining hallway. After a few minutes of walking Shawn came to a halt I front of locker 302.

"There you go!!" He said. He opened the locker door for me and took the papers from my hands so I could put my bag in the locker. Shawn put the stack of papers on one of the shelves in the locker, except one. I closed the locker door, then Shawn taught me how to make a new lock combo.

He began to read the sheet of paper.
"You in all my classes." I felt a wash of relief.
"Thank goodness!! I was so worried I wouldn't have anyone I knew in any of my classes." I said frantically.
He just laughed pulled me into a side hug, before walking back down the hallway.
"Well, your saviour has arrived." Shawn said.

I giggled.

How was I so lucky to become such good friends with such an amazing guy.
