After that talk with Dinah, I felt something different. All of a sudden I felt like I belonged. I mean, of course the girls made me feel welcome, but ‘welcome’ and ‘belonging’ are two different feelings.
But anyways, it was just about time to start when Mani and Ally got back from the store and five minutes before the start time we started getting into place and whatnot. Since my camera automatically synced to my computer, there wasn’t that much set up involved. It was more of everybody fixing their hair and makeup and whatnot.
“Okay are you guys ready?” Ally asks, turning to us. She’s the one in front of the camera while DInah is on her side next to me and Normani and Camz are in the background. Lauren is in the kitchen getting us snacks.
“You know it girl! I’m excited to see what the Harmonizers think!” Dinah all but shouts in my ear.
“‘I mean, they could be really mean at times…” Normani sighs, “But I hope they aren’t.”
I shrug, “I’m used to hate, it doesn’t really bother me anyway.”
Lauren finally comes back into the room after a while with a bowl full of M&M’s, a bowl full of popcorn, and Reese’s Pieces, “Okay, now we can get started. Dinah tweeted out the link right?”
Dinah nods, “I did, too.” I add.
Camila presses the connect button and we begin, “Hey guys, everything’s good, right?” Normani asks, pointing to her ear just in case. My phone is directly connected to the comments so I can read them all and answer, etc. Lauren’s is too. I nudge Normani, “The comments say we’re all good with the audio.”
Camila interrupts, “Okay, Harmonizers, I just wanted to add that we have some really important news that’s really dear to our hearts, but as soon as I see or hear of one rude comment, I’m ending this, okay? Good.”
I mouth a ‘thanks’ to Camz while Dinah begins her schpiel, “Hoii, Dawgs! I know most of you know my girl, Paige right? Well, if not she’s a YouTuber...she’s really amazing at singing, so yeah, check her out. But um, We just found out that she’s gonna be the latest addition to the 5H Family, and I’m gonna let the amazing and wonderful Ally say the rest.”
Ally smiles, “So… guys, I’m a Fifth Har-Mommy now! Dinah-JAne just found out that this gorgeous and talented girl right here, is her cousin and I couldn’t help but wanna help her out, so here we are! I adopted her!”
I rustle Ally’s curly hair, smiling fondly at her, while she returns my smile, giggling uncontrollably.
“Aww!” the remaining four gush, interrupting our little mommy-daughter moment.
“Paige, Ally!” Camila says excitedly, “they want us to sing something.”
I raise an eyebrow, “What something, Camila?”
“Ooohh! I got it, I got it!? Lauren exclaims, waving her hands in my face rapidly. I grab both of them and she stops, “we should sing… um… Girls.”
“By The 1975? I love them!”
“Me too!” Lo agrees, “Let’s do it, me and you, like the first verse and the chorus.”
I shrug, “Okay, on three, you start. 1...2..3.”
Lauren starts off, her silky smooth voice cutting through me and basically, to use a fangirl term, slaying.
I notice she’s singing the song much slower than the original, and right before where Matty would begin the first chorus, she pauses, signaling that she wants us to sing that part together.
I take a deep breath and begin, “I said, "No!" "Oh give it a rest, I could persuade you", "I'm not your typical, stoned 18 year old, Give me a night I'll make you", "I know you're looking for salvation in the secular age, but girl I'm not your savior."
Lauren leaves me to sing the next part, “Wrestle to the ground, God help me now... because they’re just girls, breaking hearts, eyes bright uptight, just girls… And she can’t be what you need cause she’s 17… they’re just girls…”
“Oh they’re just girls!!!!” Camila sings out, interrupting the whole progression. We all burst out in laughter and my comments start to go nuts, “Guys, what is Pauren?” I ask.
Lauren looks at Normani with this, ‘You’ve got to Be Kidding Me’ Face. “They ship us, “Lauren explains, “Like Camren, which I know you know a lot about.” Lauren smirks and I blush.
Dinah snorts, “Pshh, girl, don’t be ashamed to ship Camren, I am the captain, which makes you my co-captain!” DJ says to me, slapping me on the shoulder.
The comments fill up with some more stuff:
5h-is-life: PAURENNNNNNNNN <3
Hi-Regui_5: So… like...Camren doe…
And so forth until I find something worth mentioning, “Hey, I have a question from IIcamyounotII: Is @NoLifeTeenager, aka me, going to be touring with 5H any time soon?”
The girls get really excited for that, “Maybe so, @IIcamyounotII, maybe so…”
