50. Maybe he'll fall in love again.

Flashbacks in italic. :)
⚠️ Warning ⚠️ ,, kinda sad I guess

Third person;

Erwin, Mikasa and the troops arrived at the castle just a day after Hanji's call for help.

"Mikasa! I'm so sorry I never came back to visit you! There's so much I have to tell you!"

Eren ran to Mikasa, hugging and holding her tightly, not wanting to lose another person.

"Eren, don't apologise. I've missed you so much! How are you?"

"I'm okay, I guess. There's just so much I have to explain."

"Erwin! Thank god you're here. Everything's been a mess! Levi's losing all his memories. Something strange is going on with Eren. He seems to glow, and forgets himself, who he is, what he is."

Erwin's face displayed a look of confusion. He was baffled by what had been happening in this realm, whilst everyone at Ackerman Official had simply deemed the absence of Levi as a 'business trip'.

"How is this even possible Hanji?"

"Boss was shot by a demon with a cruel vendetta. But someone's calling all the metaphoric shots. Someone bigger than all of us. The intention was to kill Eren, but Levi was caught in the crossfire. He woke up, remembered everyone and everything, apart from Eren. Somehow Petra fits into the whole equation."

Erwins face transitioned from confusion, to shock.

"Petra? As in, Petra Ral? Eren's psychiatrist?"

"Yes! Levi thinks she's his wife? He claims she's away on a business trip and will be returning soon."

The two discussed the situation for hours. Neither could figure out how they'd managed to even get themselves in this situation.

"There's something else too. Eren's special powers don't seem to working anymore. He couldn't stop Levi from getting hurt like he usually can."

Erwin grew concerned at the comment Hanji spewed at him. Sure. The situation was concerning at first. But the angel hounds special powers not working? That stirred worry deep within.

"Something's wrong. There's only one species on this earth known to have abilities to dampen, or stop, powers." He replied quickly, wanting to not waste time on this conversation, but instead help their alpha and Luna.

They'd never brought up the fact that Eren was their Luna, as Levi had never addressed the situation like that. But now Eren's in danger, it's different. The pack cares deeply for Eren. He's their Luna. Their queen. They all wanted to protect him. If Levi can't, they will.

"Demons. The serum! Eren was kidnapped by his father a while back. He'd been injected with some sort of serum. This awakened his true blood nature. It could've been laced with something to dampen his powers. Possibly even erase them for a period of time."

Erwin listened carefully, making sure he didn't miss a single piece of information. He had to hold up his end of the bargain

"If anything happens to me, you have to promise me something. You protect Eren. No matter what. I love him. He changed me. And I'll be damned if he doesn't get a shot at a beautiful life because he risked it to save mine."

Hanji continued explaining everything to Erwin. He was worried. Worried how things were already. Worried how they'll turn out if everyone's not careful. How do you fix a situation like this?

After Eren had explained everything to Mikasa, she had to meet with Erwin and Hanji to discuss their action plan. Eren said goodbye, and went to his room.

There was something on his mind. He couldn't quite put his finger on it, but he knew it would come to him eventually. It was only a matter of time before he'd break down again, longing for his mate.

He hadn't noticed before, but there's a slight ache in his chest when he thinks about Levi. Like a painful reminder that the man he loves isn't his anymore.

"Bra-, Eren?"

The voice at the door pulled him out of his thoughts.

There it was.

The ache.

The longing.

"I'm kind of busy right now Levi, sorry. We can talk later if there's something bothering you?"

Avoiding his problems. The signature Eren move. Classic omega.

He could tell the man was still there. He couldn't ignore the intoxicating scent. The ache that still continued in his chest.

"You don't want me to come in, do you?"

Eren's breath hitched slightly at the words that left Levi's mouth. He knew something was up when Levi had referred to him as Eren, and not brat. Something about this situation caused the anxiety to begin stirring.

"I— no, it's nothing like that. I just am busy. It has nothing to do with you, I promise."

Levi ignored Eren's excuses.

Eren knew he'd ignored them when he heard Levi's body slide down the door, hitting the floor with a small thump. From the noises he heard, Eren gathered Levi was slumped against his door. Levi replied to Eren's excuse, beginning a conversation Eren didn't want to have.

"You have this look in your eyes, you know. Like there's nothing left, but you still maintain the glint of hope. You hope that he'll come back, don't you? It's the only thing that's keeping you here, alive."

If only Levi knew he and Eren were immortal...

Hearing Levi talk like he knew him made him cry. He's always been sensitive. Eren thought this should be his chance to let Levi get to know him. It's all he can do. Maybe, just maybe, Levi would fall in love again.
He walked over to his door, mirroring Levi's position on the other side of it.

"I never thought I'd have a mate, you know. Being a helpless omega, I always believed my one purpose would be to serve. But then I met him. He changed everything for me. But I still felt things I shouldn't have. Sadness, loneliness. I never let myself feel happiness, because I didn't deserve it. But he showed me I did. Showed me I could love. Laugh. Live. And then he just, left. Everything's gone back to how it was before I met him."

After he made his reply, Eren noticed the change in scent. He picked up on sadness, laced with ... anger?

"You always talk about loving him and him loving you. But if you two were really in love, why would he lea-,"

"It wasn't his choice. Everyone fucking leaves anyway! You'll see."

The harsh interruption from Eren set off something in Levi.

"If you'd just let people listen. If you just talked to people. They wouldn't fucking leave Eren. Try it sometime."

With that comment from Levi, Eren heard him get up from his sitting position and walk away.

He let out a sob as he heard the sound of Levi's last footstep fade.
