Eren;
"I want you dead."

My eyes widened at my father's words. It's like his whole motive had changed. Before he had wanted me to be the angel hound he created, and kill all demons. But now he wants to kill me?

"W-why?"

Grisha chucked at my stutter. "What better way to get revenge for my attempted murder than kill my so called murderer's mate?"

Okay...fair point.

"But why not just kill Levi?" I asked with genuine confusion.
"Now where's the fun in that, son?"

"Don't call me that. You have no right."

Grisha raised his eyebrows, strutting around the kitchen island. He dragged his fingertips against the worktop, making a sound similar to that of dragging a knife against a plate due to his sharp fingernails. Sharp fingernails...that's new?

"Now now, Eren, play nice. Daddio just wants you to have a quick death."

Hearing his motive to kill me again suddenly triggered a thought that had yet to pass my mind, until now. "Aren't you forgetting something?"

My fathers expression changed to one of confusion, clearly unsure if he was actually forgetting something.

"I'm immortal, am I not?"

He gasped mockingly, before replying, "oh, yes of course! I forgot to mention a small detail, silly me. I can't kill you, but the demon hound can."

As he said those words, my vision blurred.

I cried out as Levi inched towards me. His eyes were red and puffy from the crying he had been doing. But he'd stopped. Like a switch had been flipped and he was suddenly void of emotion.

"I'm so sorry, brat."

No no no this can't be happening!

I gasped as flames began to emerge in a circle around me. "Levi what are you doing?! Stop!"
The flames rose to my shoulders, growing higher and higher.

"I said I'm sorry. Just let it happen. It'll be quicker, less painful."

The flames grew hotter, and more violent. I winced as they flickered against my skin, burning me.

I silently sobbed as I just let the flames engulf me.

The last thing I saw was Levi dropping to the ground, holding his head in his hands.

"It seems your ability to see the future has returned!"

I could feel the anger inside me reaching boiling point. "No! We changed it once, we can change it again. I will not let this happen."

Grisha's gaze focused on the doorway behind me. The scent of my mate calmed me slightly, but also worried me. Murderer and his victim reuniting? Yeah, no thanks.

"Back from the dead already?"

Levi spoke with no fear at all. Something about this whole situation made me feel so uneasy, but what was it?

"Oh come on, Levi! That's no way to talk to the man you murdered." Grisha emphasised the last word, hoping it would agitate Levi. In reality, it only bothered me. My mate is not a murderer by choice.

"You're not the first person I've killed. And you're not the first person to return, either."

"I'm just here for your mate, demon. You needn't worry about yourself."

Levi moved from the hallway to in front of me. His stance was strong, and threatening. A low, angered growl strong enough to literally hurt my ears came from him.

"Touch him and I'll kill you, again."

Grisha looked...afraid? Something about Levi had shifted in that moment. My only guess is that now we're mated, now that I'm his, the possessiveness is at 300% and he'd do everything to protect me.

"You're mated? Now this, this is an unexpected problem."

Grisha backed up a bit as he spoke. Before I could figure out what was happening, my father disappeared in a cloud of black smoke.

Levi immediately turned round, cupping my cheeks in his hands. "Baby? Are you okay? Did he hurt you? Do you nee-," "I'm fine, Levi. Promise." I smiled, staring into his grey eyes. We stood there for a while, just taking in each other's beings.

Everything had seemed so perfect when things were on track. Everything was imperfect when they weren't on track. But after everything, Levi still stood by me. He still chose me, and I chose him. I would choose him. Every. Single. Time.

"I love you, Levi Ackerman." Levi half smiled. "As I do you, Eren Jeager." He titled his head slightly, leaning in and placing a chaste kiss on my lips.

"I have to tell you something," he whispered, his tone serious. "What is it, love?"

"That wasn't your father, Eren. It was mine."
