The sound of my alarm wakes me up. Lazily I hurl my body to the other side of the bed, so I can get the alarm clock and turn it off. It's starting to annoy me already. I try to ignore it, but the sound is too loud and it won't stop. As soon as I open my eyes; throbbing pain immediately comes running in my head.
"Fuck hangover." I utter under my breath. I look at the alarm, and it's only 7 o'clock in the morning.
"Just great! I should still be sleeping right now." I give a heavy sigh.
This isn't my usual time to wake up, but due to the reason that my boyfriend cannot make it to work today, I have to wake up early. If it is not for Kai's nephew who paid him a visit yesterday he will be the one to open the cafe. Last night while we were out partying, I suggested that I should take the morning shift and Kai should be a good host to his nephew. Kai and Jisoo were surprised by my sudden gesture, but they did not say a thing. They just both smiled and nodded their heads. I was trying to be a terrific girlfriend, but I kinda regret it now and wish that my best friend slash cousin Jisoo will fill in my shift. But I know that it is not possible because just like Kai, she has been out all night with his guy friend. And I'm pretty sure that she is still curled up on her bed, comfortably sleeping. And now that I think about it, I feel jealous that she can sleep until noon. We both take the afternoon shift, so it is okay for us to be out on a late night. Kai did the scheduling thing. He knows that we are a night person, so he took the morning shift.
Since we've moved here in New York, our life has become different. Especially Jisoo and I. We are not the typical kind of person that you know. We've done lots of stupid things when we were younger. It's just funny how moving here made us somehow a mature and responsible human being. Maybe we just needed a break from our parents, and of course, with the proper guidance of Kai, we easily got through all those terrible things. Personally, we can make decisions now and take responsibilities and resolve our issues without the help of our parents. One more thing that I like about moving here is, we are no longer dependent on our loved ones, though they still insist on giving us an allowance every month. That, we didn't argue, because we know we're not going to win. So we just let them. Besides, we never use this money. We just keep it in the bank, so that we can use it for emergency purposes. I'm not trying to be boastful or anything, but seriously, we don't need it. Our little business is doing great since we started it six months ago. It has always been peachy! Thanks to the people of New York, for loving our coffee and all the pastries we've served.
Of course, we owe it to our handsome and very talented patissier and barista, Kai. Yes, he's straight. Please don't judge him. He just loves cakes. I remember, when we were still young, he would always tell us "I'm going to be a patissier someday." And he is now. Before we've thought that he will become obese, but to our surprised, he grew up to be a good-looking man. When it comes to his physical appearance, you can't see anything bad. Everything about him was just perfectly done. Especially his smile. He has this smile that he keeps his mouth closed in a thin, straight line, and it makes him more gorgeous than he already is. His natural dark hair that is always neatly brushed up compliments his dark brown eyes, that's small and spaced evenly apart so that every time he looks at me, I feel like I am a burning candle. A burning candle that will start melting in a second if he wouldn't stop staring at me.
