"you've got a warm heart, you've got a beautiful brain.
but it's disintegrating, from all the medicine."

as the days passed, steve's life shortened. he always knew it. he never knew when his time was up. yes, everybody is dying day by day, but steve is deteriorating quicker than everyone around him.
coughing blood in the mornings were a sign of his weakness.
throwing up in the nights were a sign of his fatality.

bucky loved him.
steve loved bucky.
they have not yet told eachother, but they know it themselves.

steve was pale, his eyebags heavy and dark. peggy watched him weakly stand over the counter as he packaged people's flower boxes and coughed as he asked them for money.

peggy will be distraught when steve's life is finally brought to an end, like a son to her. not just a work-friend. but a son, a loving, caring piece of sunshine in her life. she knows the day will come, she doesn't want it too. she wishes it was her instead of him.

steve has never felt more alive than he ever has before this moment in his life. meeting james buchanan barnes made steve's illness a weak memory. he was no longer living in the sick reality. bucky was his dream, bucky was his medicine. bucky wouldn't let steve deteriorate, bucky let him beam and blossom until he fell asleep in his arms.
bucky stayed with steve a lot now, bucky wanted to make sure he was okay. bucky rubbed steve's back as he coughed and held a cold cloth against his fever-red face. bucky made it an importance to look after steve.

steven grant rogers has never been looked after outside of a hospital, only by himself. to have bucky do so was ethereal.

steve didn't leave work either, he needed the money to look after himself and the cat. he did well for himself. he looked after himself.

it was a hot thursday morning, again the shop was swarmed. steve didn't let himself overwhelm, work was a distraction from his illness. he loved it, the business. it brightened him.
steve rogers himself was the embodiment of an ethereal force, a sunshine. he was smiling, blushing constantly. it changed his weak, pale demeanour. he was always happy. he was the sweetest soul, and bucky thought so too.

"peggy, we're busy today" steve smiled at peggy as she walked to the front till from the stock room. peggy ran her soft hand through steve's hair.
"indeed we are, bucky coming in any time soon?"
steve sighed "i'm not so sure today, he stayed over last night. he's super tired" steve smiled back. he wasn't worried about not seeing bucky during the day now since it was a given, bucky stayed with steve most of the time now.

"have you, thought about. ... asking him to be your darling?" peggy grabbed steves shoulders as she asked him sweetly.
"hey! no, i haven't. i would love too, but something tells me it'll be him that asks the question. he's been taking all his time looking after me he probably hasn't thought about it" he explained, smiling.

"seeing you happy is the most beautiful sight, stevie. i am so proud of you. i hope your love is beautiful, young and free. please never let him mistreat you" peggy's forehead was pressed to steve's as she cupped his face, tears softly rolled down her cheeks.
she pressed a soft kiss on steve's cheek.

steve held peggy's hand against her face.
"he's a keeper, peggy. trust me" steve smiled, equally emotional. the shop was practically empty at this point, the two sharing the moment out of view of customers. steve was ecstatic every moment he was around bucky. he never would've thought bucky would be the same.

steve finished work at 7pm, and to his surprise, bucky came to pick him up and walk him home. steve beamed as soon as he walked into the empty shop, wearing a leather jacket that hugged his arms over his white shirt. his shirt was half open, revealing a small part of his chest. he wore a black buckle belt around his waist, holding his ironed black trousers up. he looked so handsome, devilishly so.
"mr barnes, it should be a crime to be so pretty" peggy threw her arms around bucky and smiled.
"i would say the same to you, my sweets" he hugged her back and smiled.

"there he is, my little petal" bucky walked over to steve before holding his face with his hands and planting a kiss on his forehead. steve smiled. his stomach flipped, everytime he saw bucky it was like it was his first.

"let me get you out of here, angel" bucky walked behind the counter and carefully threw steve over his shoulder, steve squealed and giggled as he was literally swept off his feet by bucky before walking him out the door.

he carefully put him down as he placed his feet on the concrete.
"thank you, bucky" steve blushed.
"no problem, my darling" bucky threw his arm around steve's small shoulders as he walked him home.

bucky was steves home.

bucky followed steve in the door, they threw their coats on the cloak pegs and went to steve's bedroom, steve was exhausted and unwell. bucky held steve's hand and walked him to the bathroom, washed his hair for him and picked out his clothes to sleep in.

bucky was like the moonlight, he was glowing, sharp and cold. on the outside, intimidating. he had many layers to him, such as the galaxy. steve fell more and more in love with him with each one he unfolded.

bucky laying next to steve was sheer simplicity, a feeling of heaven dripped from bucky's lips and steve addicted himself to it.

steve wanted to kiss bucky all the time. steve couldn't help himself.

bucky turned to face steve on his bed. he softly whispered.
"hey, sweetheart. are you awake?" he wrapped his arm around steve gently as steve turned to face him, whispering back.
"i am, yes" steve smiled. his face merely inches from bucky's.
"you look so, so beautiful" bucky whispered, his eyes didn't leave steves as he spoke, steve buried his head into bucky's bare chest. "i'm so lucky to have you, steven grant rogers" steve sat up and straddled himself on bucky's lap. bucky's touch was always warm and soft against steve's cold skin. a red blush rose to steve's cheeks as he wrapped his arms around bucky's neck. bucky's hands were placed lightly on steve's hips.

"please, let me show you what you mean to me, steve." bucky whispered, now holding steve's face before closing the gap between their lips. this kiss was different from their first, it was passionate and hungry. bucky's tongue explored steve's mouth and tastes his lips. bucky's hands roamed steve's back and pulled his hair lightly. bucky pulled away.

"i love you so much, steven grant rogers." bucky smiled at steve with his hands placed on his neck lightly.
"i love you too, james buchanan barnes" steve whispered back before bucky lightly peppered kisses along steve's prominent collarbones. steve started to squirm, his hands tugging bucky's hair as the kisses grew longer, sucking steve's skin lightly marking him.

bucky was just as addicted to steve, his soft skin unfolding beneath him, revealing the golden inside. steve had flowertips at his fingertips and sunrays beneath his clothes. he was beautiful, all of him. bucky was in awe of steve at all times.

they had a hunger for eachother, bucky carefully showing steve, undressing eachother and entangling eachother with themselves. they were in love.

recklessly, foolishly, endlessly in love.
