steve awaited the moment it hit 5 on the clock. he wanted to see bucky's face again so badly. all he did was look at him. steve beamed when he was around and peggy saw it too.

it was a hot day, steve felt weaker than usual. he was sat down, drinking water. he felt faint.

steve rogers knew he was going to die young, but it didn't worry him, he did what he had to do to keep himself around. steve was feeble, weak and small. his conditions never ending, not enough to hospitalise him though. heart murmurs, fevers, stomach ulcers, collapsing. it comes and goes, some times he's doing good and sometimes he thinks it's come to an end. he doesn't like to be over dramatic, he doesn't like to be a burden. so he deals with it.

steve was sat on a small stool beside the counter when bucky walked in with his hands behind his back.

"steve rogers" bucky smiled. "you are looking awfully pale today, my dearest. i hope you are well"
steve felt sickly, sweaty.
"i'm just fine, bucky" steve carefully stood from the stool to stand across the counter from bucky. he tried eyeing bucky's hands he had behind
"i'm so glad, because i've brought you these" bucky smiled as he holds out an arrangement of daffodils and sunflowers in his hand.
"for you" he motions them towards steve. steve noticed bucky had tried to organise them the same way steve organised bucky's sunflowers for his grandmother. steve nearly let a tear roll from his cheek. nobody has ever cared about him before, until now.
"oh, bucky" steve whinced with a smile after taking them.
"i love them" steve wrapped his arms around bucky's neck and hugged him tightly.
"i'm so glad" bucky sighed. peggy eyed them from the stock room. "get a room, darlings" she giggled. steve and bucky looked at eachother, steve taking every part of bucky's face in with his starlit eyes. steve could feel his cold cheeks flushing red as bucky smiled at him. bucky's hands still holding steve at the waist.
"you're done, right?" bucky asked, steve nodded yes and without another word, bucky grabbed steves hand swiftly and walked out of the shop with him.

"bucky! where are we going?" steve giggled. he had never felt such adrenaline in such little time.
"you know where, don't worry" bucky was talking about the viewpoint they went the first time they were alone together. steve's stomach was full of butterflies. butterflies, the only way he could describe the way he felt around bucky. steve was slowly starting to enjoy the feeling. bucky was charming, beautiful and swept steve off his feet without knowing it.

steven grant rogers felt something for the first time in years.

bucky walked close to steve as he lead him back to the viewpoint. they walked the trail that lead them to the picnic spot they were previous days before.
steve sat next to bucky on the dry grass.
it was the most perfect setting, pretty grass, pretty flowers planted in the grass. the beautiful sun beading down on them but not too much, not uncomfortably. and steve and bucky, alone. together, in each other's presence. the only thing they could hear was the business of the town below them and the bumble bees collecting pollen from the daisies surrounding them.

bucky turned to steve.
"now, steven grant rogers" his voice was low, it captivated steve everytime he opened his mouth.
"you see this view? the sun? the way the mountains peak over the clouds in the distance?" bucky asked steve.
"yes bucky, i do. and it's beautiful" steve smiled sweetly.
"that, now this is going to sound crazy." bucky giggled as he spoke. "that's how i see you" the words that came out of his mouth after a pause took steve by shock.
"i think you are so captivating, gentle and kind. you deserve more than what this cruel world has given you. i want to give you something better, i really do. in such little time i've felt something for you. i want to brighten your day every time i walk into the shop" bucky continues, placing his hand on steve's. steve was blushing wildly, speechless.

"i just want you to know, you have a beautiful soul, a beautiful mind. and a pretty face" bucky spoke, staring at steve with softness. steve looked away, giggling. he felt so giddy, smitten and lucky.
"gosh, thank you bucky. i cant put it into words. i feel the same about you, and it's a strange feeling to me. i'm not used to this feeling. but i like it. thank you"

without another word, bucky took steve's face in his hands. "don't thank me, darling" he whispers before joining his lips to steve's. steve slipped into the kiss and melted. he didn't know what to do, he let bucky guide him. his hands roaming his hair and his back. bucky's lips were soft, they tasted of cigarette smoke and cherry suckers. steve became addicted quickly.

it was all new to steve, the heavy breathing, the tongue slipping between his and the hands roaming places nobody has touched before. steve loved it.

bucky pulled away from the kiss and smiled.
"i've wanted to do that since the first day i walked into the shop, steve" bucky bit his lip with a smirk.

steves face must have been red raw from blushing. he loved this new feeling. he didn't know what it was or how to comprehend it but it was important to him. bucky was important to him, bucky was good.

bucky walked steve home, hand in hand through a clear peaceful route. steve smiled the whole way home. bucky smelt like home, like cinnamon and sunflowers and smoke and cherries. bucky was like a dream. bucky was good, he was beautiful and funny and smart and charming. bucky had green blue eyes and steve loved to look at them. bucky's lips curve at the side when he smiles, bucky slicks his short hair back and wears his shirts slightly open as the braces hang by his thighs. bucky paints his nails black and bites them when he's bored. bucky was steve's polar opposite.

steve was infatuated with bucky.
steve was no longer scared.
