A few days passed since the confrontation between Natasha and Micah and she was pleasantly surprised to see that he had kept his distance from her. whenever she would sit by the main campfire, he would move, if she were riding out of a camp and he so happened to be stood by one of the trees, he would move.
She didn't mind of course, she wanted things to go back to the way they were which was Micah and her ignoring one another. It seemed weird to her that they had even spoken but they were bound to at some point.
Natasha was cleaning her guns in her tent when Strauss had approached her, knocking on the wooden beam and looked at her with his cunning Austrian eyes.
"May I help you Herr Strauss?"
"Morning Miss Fiore, I wanted to say that I appreciate you taking on Arthur's work whilst he tries scouting where Sean is. I was wondering if you had gotten the debt back from Winton Holmes yet?" Strauss inquired politely, pushing up his glasses as they fell from the tip of his nose slightly.
Natasha balanced her shotgun over her lap and simply shook her head, picking at a mark she had discovered on the barrel.
"Not yet but I will. He's hiding in the mountains somewhere near Strawberry and I had a run-in with the Sheriff there. I don't know if he is still alive but I made a proposition for him when I was helping getting Micah out of jail." She states, clearly not wanting to go back to the massacre that had been caused by Micah and Arthur.
The man nodded understandingly and handed her over a small note. "If you don't mind, Arthur had already dealt with Mr Downes and I was wondering if you could go seek out a Chick Matthews?"
Natasha scanned the note with her eyes, recognising the location and gave him a quick nod.
Happily, he walked away from her tent and allowed her to get ready.
Putting on her jacket, she exited the tent, this time leaving her hat.
She smiled down at Jack as he ran at her, hugging her legs tightly. "Where are you going?" He grinned up at her as she ruffled the hair on top of his head.
"Just going to do some business for Strauss. I won't be gone long." She explained, kneeling down to his height as he let go of her.
"Can I come?"
Natasha laughed lightly and shook her head. "Not this time buddy. I'll take you out of camp soon though, if that's okay with your momma? Just go for a nice horse ride or something?" She offered to him after seeing a small pout appear on his lips at the fact he wasn't allowed to go with her but his eyes lit up at her offer and he nodded his head eagerly before running away.
Standing straight, she smiled over at Mary Beth as she passed her but grew curious to see a sly smirk on the young woman's face.
"What?" Natasha asked nervously, stopping in her tracks making her giggle nervously.
"Oh I think you know what Miss Fiore."
She raised her eyebrow and sat on one of the boxes by their wagon as she knitted away at some clothing.
"I really don't."
"That heated argument you got with Micah of course!" Mary-Beth exclaimed quietly, looking around to make sure he wasn't ear-wigging their conversation.
"What about it? He was telling that boy Kieran boy not to eat." Natasha mumbled annoyed, not annoyed at Mary-Beth but because of Micah's cruel actions.
"I never seen him act so flustered. The men here have argued with him but not quite how you did." Natasha was surprised by her words, not really thinking what he had said to him was all that bad. She just wanted to put him in his place and it somehow worked.
