Chapter four

Chapter four

It took ages for Piper to fall asleep, after seeing HIM.

Then again no-one would be able to sleep after seeing a beloved game character in reality, right?

It took time, but she finally convinced her parents that the loud noise from the bins were raccoons. After that, she had to get out of bed once again when they were asleep so she can clear any evidence of Sonics arrival. It was tough, but she succeeded in the end, earning only 6 hours of sleep before one of the maids came up to wake her. 

She wished she could of got another 1 or 2 hours of sleep, but unfortunately her stomach disagrees. After breakfast she wondered if she could find Sonic again, seeing him run into her family's huge garden last night made her wonder if he was hiding there. Then again, he took the piece of metal Piper found, she figured it wouldn't be too hard to find a plane (* Aw, come on! You must of known the metal piece belonged to the tornado!).

But before she could even open the back door in the kitchen, the same house maid that found her with the piece of metal the other day stopped her. "Oh where do you think your running off to this time, young lady?" Piper flinched and looked behind her. "O-oh I.....left one of my belongings outside....?" Great, stuttering. There was no way that the maid would buy that excuse.

The maid eyed her suspiciously, Piper sweat dropped. The maid sighed before shaking her head at Piper. "Just get whatever you left outside before your parents notice your absence, okay?" Piper smiled and nodded before running out the back door.

She looked EVERYWHERE. she went around every corner, every part of the fruit and berry section, even around the area where the gazebo was. How could one hedgehog along with a plane hide so well? She was about to give up when she remembered something: the forest.

That was the only place she hasn't checked yet. But what about her parents? She's been out for too long, that they probably would have called the police by now. She sighed and glanced at the tall wooden fence not so far from her. That's when she remembered something, her parents think she's claustrophobic. So they'll understand her being outside for ages right?

Maybe not, but she'll try to think of an excuse just in case. She looked for a tree that's close to the fence, before climbing it and jumping over it, barley missing the triangular tips. She didn't forget about the hill, though she prepared for the impact. As soon as her feet landed on top of the hill, she instantly slid down the dirt mountain and landed in a patch of green grass. She groaned and looked up at the fence, all the way at the top of the hill. She looked back at the forest ahead of her, it looked exactly the same when she first came here.

She got up and walked straight into the forest. She could hear nothing but the sound of birds chirping, and the sound of her feet softly crunching against some leaves below her. She loved every bit of the forests peaceful nature. It seemed like the perfect place to go to to clear your mind of things.

She walked forward for a few good minutes until she smelled smoke. Not smoke from a fire, but smoke that comes out of a broken down car. She followed the scent into a darker, more jungle-looking part of the forest. The grass got thicker and taller as she continued walking into this new area. She stopped when she came Infront of some huge bushes....or where they palm leaves?

Whatever they were, Piper pushed them aside a little bit just so she could peak her head through. She saw a wide open space in the middle surrounded by vines and and thick trees. The trees leaves were completely blocking the sky out of view. And there sitting in the centre, was a red and white plane, with the word 'Sonic' on the base.

 It looked like it made a hole in the trees above it, rays of sunlight were streaming out of it lighting up the place a bit. It looked amazing, only, it wasn't in good condition. The tail end was broken off, the propeller at the front was bent, one of the wings had a large zig-zag cutting through it, and the entire plane was slightly tilting on its side.

There was a small campfire sitting Infront of it, it looked like someone had just burnt it out. Which means they might be still around. Piper's stormy grey eyes scanned the plane up and down, she thought about fixing it, at least she could help the owner of the plane a bit. She was about to walk up to it when a cloud of black smoke puffed out of the plane, where Piper presumed was the engine. 

Coughing could be heard as a yellow, two tailed fox now smeared with ash on its face and upper body walked out from behind the plane. Piper held back a gasp, so Sonic is not alone. Somehow he and his best friend came here in the tornado, and crashed it. Now that she was thinking about him, she wandered where he was since he wasn't here with Tails.

"Um.....hello?" Said a voice which snapped Piper back into reality. It was Tails, Piper must have been staring at him,  judging by how uncomfortable the classic fox looked. "O-oh um.....hi?" Well that was stupid. The fox smiled and began to fly over to her. "Hey it's okay! My names Miles prower, but my friends call me Tails, what's yours?" 

"Piper"

He stopped flying and landed Infront of her. He put his finger on his chin and looked at Piper curiously, which Piper thought was adorable. "You look like your far from home, aren't you?" Piper nodded which made Tails smile more. "Well me and my friend Sonic are far from home too! We crashed the tornado here, as you can see" 

Piper looked back at the tornado, a thought then ticked in her head. How did they crash the tornado? Most importantly, how did they get here? She looked back at Tails, who was already looking up at her. She decided to ask him her question. "Tails.....how did you and Sonic get here?" 

He stared at her for a second before scratching his head."Well.....we were following metal Sonic-" he was suddenly cut off by a blue blur zooming past him, as well as a gush of wind. He looked behind him and so did Piper, only to see the blue quickster himself leaning against the tornado with one hand while rubbing his finger under his nose. 

"Sonic!" Said Tails as he flew over to him and gave him a high five. "Sonic, I've made a friend! She's right over-" when Tails turned around to show Piper to Sonic, she wasn't there anymore.

Piper was hiding behind a boulder. She needed some time to herself to think about some things. She knows that it was kinda rude to leave Tails without him noticing, but she hoped he understood. All of that was a bit too immensing, she was begining to think she was claustrophobic. She laid her legs Infront of her and stared straight ahead. There wasn't much to see, just the trunks of trees and some plants. 

She suddenly got the nagging feeling that someone was watching her, but she ignored it. She continued to ignore it to the point where it grew very potent. She looked up and regretted it instantly. She jumped when she saw Sonic standing over her, with his hands on his hips while his eyes narrowed. 

A smile appeared on his face as he did in fact, recognise her. Piper watched him slide down the boulder, ending up sitting next to her. He looked up at her and held out his hand, Piper stared at it for a second before shaking it. 

"You remember me?" She blurted out by mistake. Sonic nodded his head and let go of her hand, just in time as Tails found them. "There you are! We were looking everywhere for you" Piper scratched the back of her neck sheepishly. "I'm sorry if I made you guys worry, I just needed some time to myself I guess..." 

"Nah, it's alright! We found you, that's what matters" Piper smiled at the fox's infectious smile. Only for it to turn into a frown. "Well looks like the tornado won't be flying for a long time, I don't have the material or tools to fix it"

Piper looked back at Sonic, who was now standing up with a finger on his chin. She looked back at Tails, an idea sparking in her head. "I have some tools back in the garage in my place, you could use them" Tails' face brightened. "Really? You'll lend them to us?" Piper held back a giggle. "Of course I will" 

"What do you think Sonic?" 

Sonic did nothing but give him a thumbs up.
