I was walking to the cafeteria. I didn't have any friends at school. I usually just wore a sweatshirt and sweat pants and didn't do anything to my hair. That might be why I don't have friends or because people don't like me.Yeah I hung out with the sandlot boys after school , but I understand why they wouldn't want to be seen with me at school. As I sat down at my table playing with my broccoli I felt a warm substance run down my back. I turned around to see Phillips pouring his tea all over me. I heard laughter from all over the cafeteria. "You are a nothing." He said. I ran home that day. I didn't want to go back. But I realized what I had been doing wrong. I wasn't showing them how confident I could be. So I went shopping, and then I got my nails done and lastly I re did my hair a bit. Sure it cost a pretty penny but I was going to walk into the school tomorrow with confidence.
[next morning]
I put on a black crop top with ripped jean shorts. I put on my PF flyers and some hoop earrings. I then curled my hair with a little bit of makeup. I looked in the mirror. A weird feeling came over me. I saw me, I looked a little more glam but I felt like me. I walked to school and immediately felt eyes on me. I felt like looking down at the floor to avoid eye contact but I had to remember to keep my head held high. I went to my locker and started pouring out what I needed. "Woah." I turned around to see the sandlot boys all staring at me. "What's with the new look? Not complaining though." Said Bertram. I rolled my eyes playfully. "I just thought it was about time I started showing some confidence. Anyway why are you here? You guys never talk to me at school." I said. "I felt bad. You are our friend and we want to hang out with you at school, we just didn't know how a girl hanging out with us at school would look. But who cares honestly we want you around." Said benny. I smile. I slam my locker shut and put my bag around my shoulder. "Well then, lets get to first shall we?" They all nodded. We had been walking in the halls for a little bit when I get a pair of arms push me against the lockers. "HEY what's the big idea man?" I said rubbing my back. I looked up to see Phillips observing me. I rolled my eyes "get off Phillips" I said. "You heard her Phillips get off" Said Benny with a very mad look. He laughed and got off. "Well look who decided to stop being a loser. Oh wait? Can you really decided when you stop being a loser?!" Said Phillips. "You bet on it. Now if you know what's good for you Phillips I suggest you step away and never bother me again." Phillips laughed and took a step closer I punched him so hard in the face I'm pretty sure I broke his nose. I looked up to everyone that was staring. "You all learn too! You will never disrespect me ever again!!!" I said. I flipped my hair and walked off. "Cmon" I told them. They followed. We ended up in the empty hallway. "Man that was-" Said Squints But was interrupted by Benny "- badass" Benny said. I blushed and winked. "Well let's get to first , I heard Mr Williams forgot to shave a spot on his beard and he looks like a gain goatee!!" Said ham. Causing all the boys to laugh. I rolled my eyes and followed. I felt an arm snake around my waist pulling me back. I turned to see Benny staring at me. He was still holding on to my arm. I've never had feelings for Benny, but all of a sudden his touch made me weak. He got closer and so did I. "You know I liked you since we were in first grade. But right now right here I can't help it anymore." He said. "Would you maybe want to go out sometime?" He asked. I nodded and kissed his jaw. I winked and walked away.
