Chapter 3

As we enter OR 1 I had two surgeons get Bethany prepped for surgery while I went to get scrub in while I was scrubbing my aunt there as well, she must have read my mind because she said my team just gave me an update on your mom and from what they could tell it doesn't look good they are moving her ICU to monitor her but they said they'd  give me more information in about an hour or so. I told her okay and thanks for being straight forward with me. As I  scrubbed in I took a breathe and I did something I didn't think I would do I had asked Joshua to please watch over my mom and give her the strength she needs to get this. As soon as I was finished scrubbing in I had enter the OR and my aunt had my gown all ready for me as well as two pairs of gloves as well, before I went over to Bethany I stepped off to the side to put surgeon cap on this was the gift that Joshua had gave his parent to give to me if something happened to him it was nice shade of light blue and purple all swirled together and in the back it read: world's top neonatal surgeon then underneath it had the date we first met and then our wedding date. After I finished putting it one of surgeons assistance gave me a pair of safety glass. After I made sure I had all my protective gear on I made my way over to Bethany and before the my aunt gave the anesthesiologist the go ahead  Bethany had looked at me and said thank for taking time our busy schedule to help me. I told her no problem. A few minutes later I told Bethany we have began the surgery now i need you to do me a favor count backwards from 10. Before she even reach 2 her eyes were closed and that's when the rest of our very long day began. I made my way over to Bethany along with Dr. wilder, and Dr. Bay I stood there a few seconds I had quickly asked the Lord to watch over Bethany and her kids. Then I had asked Dr Wilder for the scalpel after I made the cut , Dr Bay and I mange to get the girls out safety and onto the the table then once  I was done helping her I ran back to finished up with Bethany. A few minutes later, I Kay and Peter the nurses assistances if they can bring Bethany up to recovery for me, also make sure you after she hook back up to the machines you get her vitals and be sure mark them down in her file. As they left the room my aunt had told me she was going to with them to make sure everything goes smoothly. I told okay don't worry about in here I got all of the bases cover. About 2 hours into the surgery one of machines were going off Dr Wilder had asked me if he should continue to work or let handle the rest I told take a step back a few minutes and gather your thoughts and then if you feel confident then you may continue but if you feel like your comfortable then it's okay just let me know and I will have you go and help Dr. Bay. A few minutes later he told me he was going to help Dr Bay I told okay. 7 hours into the surgery we finally able  really get to work i got the chance of working on baby A and with in 20 minutes I was almost completely done and a few minutes later my aunt had told me that her team had just gave her an update. She told me she would let me know when I was done with baby A. Not even 5 minutes I had finished and then I told my aunt I am going to take her down to the NICU she okay I will walk with you. I gently picked up the baby and held her close to me to calm her down then my aunt and I had made our down the NICU. After leaving the OR I had asked my aunt if everything was okay with my mom and you don't be afraid to tell me if she did or didn't make it. I can handle it trust me. She looked at me and that when she said before nurse pulls the plug she had asked for you. At the very moment I wanted to stop and just cry my heart out I couldn't understand why all the bad things happen to me. I took a minute to collect my thoughts then I finished my making my way to NICU. A few minutes later I had told my aunt can you please finish take the baby she said sure not a problem and can you please tell Bethany that I will check on her in a little while. She I be sure to let her know. She said do me a favor tell your mom that I love her and not to worry everything will be okay.
