I let my eyes follow him to the cash register. My Coworker Lisa flirted with him the entire time, pushing out her chest, batting her eyes, and smiling obsessively. I wasn’t sure why I grew jealous, he was fair game, I think. I knew he turned her down when she handed him back his card without looking at him. He returned and sat down. Lisa rolled her eyes and then gave me thumbs of approval.
“May I ask when your break is over?” Richard asked as he selltled into his chair.
“15 minutes.” I was slightly annoyed at the short amount of time.
“And your shift?”
“Four hours.” I answered, curiously.
“Hmm.” He mumbled just as his food arrived.
“Your bagel, love.” He handed me a cinnamon raisin bagel and I smiled. “I don’t know your favorite drink here yet so, I gave the green tea a fair go.” He handed me the tea.
“Thank you, you’re close, vanilla latte.”
The rest of the night Richard stayed, sitting at the breakfast bar when I was working the counter, complimenting me and pulling me in. I was interested in him and he seemed to be interested in me as well.
“I really do not want to say goodnight to you.” I heard the smile in his voice as he helped my pull on my jacket.
“I’m sorry.” I smiled back. He walked me out to my car.
I played with my keys not wanting to leave either and not sure how to ask him, about anything. Was he going to come again? Did he need to know my schedule? Did he know I’d be here tonight? Can I contact him?
I inhaled deeply and turned on my heels to face him, I didn’t know how but I was going to ask him something, anything. My keys fell out of my hands as I turned.
“Crap.” Part of me felt extremely embarrassed, if it were brighter outside he would’ve seen it on my face, he kneeled down and grabbed my keys.
“I wouldn’t want you not to be able to get home.” He said as he held on to my keys for a few seconds before handing them to me.
I leaned against the car. “Did you know I’d be working tonight.”
“I hoped.”
“Why?”
“‘Cause, I liked your smile.” He leaned over me and placed his hand on the hood of my car.
“Liked my smile?” I looked up at him and he looked into me
“’Was all I had to hope for, getting to see it again. Now I’ve got getting to hear that laugh, and your voice and everything else I can find.”
“Oh.” I bit my lip. Not sure what else to say.
“Can I kiss you goodnight, Ryon Carter?”
I smiled and nodded my head. And almost instantly his lips were on mine, the kiss was deep and powerful, but safe and sincere, my heart ached sweetly in my chest and I wasn’t sure why. The kiss dragged on, and I wasn’t going to pull away, his arms were holding him up, with me trapped completely. Slowly he let his hips pin me closer to my car. And I let my hands pull him closer by his waist. The kiss deepened and sent fire through my veins and his growing erection pushed into my lower stomach. He was the one to end it.
We were both out of breath, he let his forehead rest gently on mine and kept his hips pinning me. I looked up at him and his eyes were closed and lips were parted. When he opened them undeniable lust shot out of his eyes. He bit his lip, and removed his hips before taking his hands from the top of my car. I swallowed trying to compose myself.
He took my key again and unlocked my door without saying anything, he assisted me in getting in and stood between the door and the car.
“Goodnight, Ryon.” His voice was course. He smiles and his eyes are gentle again.
“Good night, Richard.” I smile and he pauses before closing my door and stepping back. I pull away and he sees me off, he doesn’t move as the distance causes him to disappear from my rearview mirror.
