When I'm Gone

A light sprinkle falls outside, the warnings of a coming storm. One person doesn't care though. Adrien sits on the ground, his back against cold stone. He pulls a folded paper from the pocket of his coat. He slowly unfolds the paper, flattening every crease gently. Lightly calloused hands hold the paper gently as he reads the words with care. Tears roll from his eyes slowly, dripping onto the notepaper.

Dear Adrien,

Hey Kitty. This is hard for me to write, but you deserve this after what you've been through. Thank you for standing by me through good days and bad, through hard times and days we felt like we could fly. You flirted away during Akuma attacks and gave me a charming smile. You held me when I hurt and pulled back my hair when I was sick. You helped me with physics and became my own personal model. I could never thank you enough Adrien.

This is only see you later, not goodbye. I can't wait to watch you grow even more still. You have so much in life to live for and so much you can do. Help our daughter grow to be just as strong and wild and kind as her father is. I'll see you in the stars. Je t'aime Chaton.

Adrien looks at the stone across from him, the dirt in front of it freshly dug and re-piled in the hole. Silent tears flow down his cheeks, turning the paper in his hands slightly damp. He folds the paper and slips it in his pocket, standing from the grassy ground.
