When the daylight dies

Lightning crackled through the air. Static fizzing through the humid atmosphere. The start was still dry, the rain hanging in the clouds like a lifeline. The setting sun was long ago swallowed by the dark clouds. Another bolt sizzles through the air, briefly lighting up the barren streets.

A clang sounds as metal connects with metal. A girl stands locked in battle, her black dress flowing around her legs and armor catching the reflection of the lightning. "Please, stop this!" She screams, pleading with her clear grey eyes. The boy who she fights laughs, the voice not his own as the red eyes indicate his possessed body. "Why should I? I find pleasure in the pain. He cries out for me to let him out and you cry out for me to let him go. I just want him to watch his hands kill the girl he loves."

The girl's eyes widen, her heart breaking into a million pieces. She looks at the boy, her gaze searching for the real person inside. "Forgive me for not telling you the truth." She says simply before closing her eyes, the sword dropping from her hand. A wind swirls around her before exploding out from her, shoving the boy back several feet.

Her eyes open to reveal pitch black irises. "I command you to leave his body now." The boy's body trembles and the demon's voice says "but-" "SILENCE! You will do as I command or suffer the consequences!" The demon then leaves the boy's body, disappearing into the ground.

The boy then watches as the girl's eyes fade back to normal, the gold gleaming in her grey irises. "Why didn't you tell me?" He says, betrayal filling his voice. The girl sighs, her gaze dropping to the barren ground. "All my life, I've wanted to be normal. I just wanted to live like I wasn't cursed." She clenches her hands into fists. "Like the monster I was born as."

She looks back at him. "I'm leaving, I won't come back. Just tell me to stay and I will. I have nothing of worth to pack. Tell me not to walk away and I won't." She waits, wanting to hear that he still cares. After a few minutes of silence, she sighs. "I guess this is it huh? I will tell you one last Truth before I go."

She walks closer to him. "I had fallen in love with you too." With that she turns and walks away, her gaze fixed on the horizon. The boy stands and watches her leave his heart breaking as his head says it's for the best. The storm reflects in his hazel eyes as the girl finally walks out of sight.
