"Everyone this is Santiago, he came all the way from America to come help us." The professor said introducing the so named Santiago. I swallow the big lump I felt in my throat and begin to get up slowly. I felt angry, confused, upset, yet relieved. I ran up to Santiago hugging him as tightly as I could. I couldn't believe it.. He's alive..
"Do they know each other?" I hear Denver ask, but I just ignore him and hug Santiago tighter. I feel him wrap him arms around me and hug me tight too. Im not usually the emotional type but I have to say that made tears come falling down like there was no tomorrow.
As we let go of the hug I try to compose myself. I couldn't help grab his face one last time and look at him for a few seconds before turning around. As the group was looking at the whole scene unraveling, I decided to speak up. "Everyone.. This is my cousin. Santiago?" I said looking at him, wondering why he chose the name Santiago.
"It's after Santiago, Chile." He said smiling at me. I smile back remembering the memories we had there. "We went there one summer and that's how you decided to name yourself?" I asked laughing lightly. "Hey I know you ain't talking Ms. Seoul." He said mocking my name. "Hey! I didn't actually choose it! The Professor just gave it to me! And I gladly accepted cause not gonna lie that's one of the pretty cool places I've lived at, plus Tokyo was already taken." I said defending my name.
"So Professor, mind telling us how they are your special little cards in this big plan of yours?" Tokyo asked seeming a little annoyed. My cousin sits down on the desk behind Nairobi as I go back to mine thats in front of hers. "Yes of course" he says walking in front of his desk in order to sit on top of it.
"You see I have known Seoul and Santiago for a very long time now. As a matter of fact, they saved my life. Im going to give you all a little bit of background information about them so you can understand why they're a big part of this game. You see, they are no ordinary people like the rest of us... well as ordinary as we can get" he said chuckling ,"They are actually a part of the biggest mafia in the world. Santiago here is one of the best assassins you will ever know, the one who hold any and all information you want or must know. Seoul is the most special of all, she is the best at everything, but most importantly, she is the best at gambling. Everyone in the gambling world feared her, especially in Japan. She even had the name 'Kakerugui'." He said standing up heading towards the board.
"What does that mean?" Denver asked raising his hand. The professor chuckled, turning around and pushing his glasses further up to the bridge of his nose.
"It means Compulsive Gambler, insane gambler, anything that has to do with her willing to put everything on the line for a gamble. Which is why she is the most dangerous. She will be holding the cards when going up against the police. With the information and skills Santiago and Seoul have we'll have the ability to intimidate the police and get Rio back. But even so, we are still not on the clear for being able to survive the whole mission, but it's a risk I'm willing to take." He said.
"Professor, how did they save your life?" Tokyo asked
"When I was in Mexico I did a very very stupid thing that got me into a lot of trouble. Thanks to them I got to live and pay off my debt. Hell, I even got to visit Japan and travel places I never thought I would be able to go-"
"What exactly did you do professor?" Nairobi cut him off interested in the Professors past.
He went quiet for a minute and looked at Santiago and I. I nodded at him, giving him permission to tell the story of what happened. It wasn't anything bad or confidential really, so why hide it?
"Well when I was in Mexico I stole from a Mafia, it was accidental because I didn't know it was a Mafias money to begin with, but after that they we're after my head. I met Santiago and Seoul through them since they were rivals with the Mafia I stole from. As a matter of fact Seoul pointed a gun at me just like the first time we met Tokyo." He said smiling at the memory, "She thought I was part of the Mafia they were rivals with but once I got on my knees and begged for my dear life, Seoul put down the gun and let me explain myself to her. She then told Santiago and they decided to pay my debt. You could say they were the Robin Hood of the town. But even after the debt was paid some members of the mafia still wanted me dead as a 'warning' to others. So one night, as I was walking home, people from the mafia came up to me, put a gun to my head and were about to shoot. I closed my eyes and held my breath waiting for the moment but nothing ever came. I slowly began opening my eyes and saw the men laying dead on the ground. I looked around and saw Seoul and Santiago on top of opposite buildings with sniper guns. They then used the men that tried to kill me as a warning to the Mafia to back off and leave me alone. That is how they saved me, that is how I knew they would be the perfect fit for this challenge. They are loyal. And I trust them with my life." The professor finished the story.
"Well alright I guess thats enough for today, tomorrow we will be going over the plan, have a good night rest because tomorrow is where everything truly begins." He said walking out of the room towards the rooms.
