Couldn't Be More Different (Cashton/Muke)

Chapter 7

Ashton's p.o.v

I woke up to my dad standing over my bed. This was day 1 of me having to get up at 6 in the morning. I got up and we jogged for half an hour. When we got back I tried to fall asleep for 30 minutes but it didn't work. My alarm went off and I got up. After getting ready for school I went downstairs for breakfast. I was not looking forward for school today. When it was time for school I got into my car and drove to school. When I got to school I met up with my "friends" they were talking about football practice after school. I was bored of them already. When the bell rang I went to English. I was looking around the room at the students. I saw the guy I was rude to at the grocery store and the mute kid who everyone bullies. I also saw Luke but no one cares about him. 

Mr.Wilson: Ok so we will be starting a new unit today. You will be going down to the library and picking a book that is on a list I made. You will read the book and then do a presentation at the end of the unit. I have 30 of you and 15 books. I have 2 copies of each book though. When you do your presentation we will be able to see who actually read the book and who didn't. Now let's go to the library.

We got up from our desks and walked down to the library. People were grabbing the good books so I hope there is a good one left when I go up. I was last in line. When I got to the front of the line I picked up the last book in the basket. It was called The Perks of Being a Wallflower. I picked it up and signed it out. I was trying to figure out who was also reading the same book as me. If it was one of my friends that would be great. I looked around and saw the other book. It was that Calum guy who had it. Oh well I guess I will have to the the project on my own like we are supposed to.

It was lunch and that meant it was time for detention. I had to bring my lunch today instead of buy it from the cafeteria because we are not allowed to go buy food before detention. I walked into the room and saw that nobody was here except for the principal. He gave me a weird look and I sat down. Within the next 5 minutes the other 3 people showed up.

Principal: So you guys know the rules. No talking, no going on your phones e.t.c. I will be back at the end of lunch to unlock the door.

The principal left the room making sure to lock the door behind him. I looked around the room to see what the others were doing. Calum was reading the book for our English class. Luke was on his phone doing whatever and the Michael guy was getting out of his seat.

Michael's p.o.v

I was bored as fuck and wanted to get out of the classroom. I got up to check the door and just like I thought it was locked. 

Ashton: What are you doing Michael?

Michael: Trying to get us out of here.

While I looked around the room Calum got a notebook from his bag and started writing in it. He then got up and walked over to me. He seemed really nervous. I took the note from his hand and read it.

Calum: *What are you doing you are going to get us all in trouble?*

Michael: Well goody two shoes I don't want to die of boredom for the next 4 days.

He was about to write more but he just looked down and walked back to his seat.

Calum's p.o.v

I was scared about what was going to happen. I mean I don't want to be stuck in this room but what if we get caught. We were literally locked in so I didn't have to worry about it anyway. Even if they break out that doesn't mean I have to go with them. Well it's not like they would want me to go anywhere with a guy like me. I'm a freak. 

Luke: There is probably a second key in the desk. There is one for every room.

Sure enough Luke got up and walked over to the desk. He went to pull open the desk door but it was locked.

I got my notebook out and started writing again

Calum: *Tomorrow just ask him to open the desk for paper or something. When you go to get it close the desk drawer but not all the way so it doesn't lock itself. Then when he leaves open the drawer and grab the key.*

Ashton: That's the most useful thing that has come out of your mouth all day. Well I mean your notepad.

Michael: Wow way to be nice Ashton.

Ashton: Sorry I don't think before I speak.

Luke: No shit.

Ashton: So Calum wanna tell us why you don't speak?

Michael: Ashton seriously fuck off!

Calum: *No offence but why are you guys being kind of nice to me?*

Luke: Just because the rest of the football team are jerks doesn't mean I am.

Ashton: Hey! I won't hesitate to punch you again!

Luke: Do you really want more detention?

Ashton: Calum I am not joking though. What would actually happen if you tried talking to us?

Calum: *It's not like I can't talk. I just choose not to. I speak to my family no problem. The only time I physically can not make myself talk is when my anxiety takes over. The only issue is that happens talking to anyone who is not close to me.*

Michael: You have anxiety?

Calum: *I've had social anxiety since Kindergarten but I was diagnosed at 7.*

Ashton: So if you don't talk to anyone at school who do you hang out with?

Calum: *Um well I spend most of my time with my family. Most of the people here are jerks so I don't really have friends.*

Luke: Well you could always hang out with us.

Calum: *How would that work? Aren't you guys in like different friend groups? Plus don't the 2 of you hate each other?*

Michael: Well you can sit with me and if Luke and Ashton want to leave their asshole teammates to sit with us then they can.

Luke: They are not all assholes.

Michael: At this point even Ashton is an asshole. No offence. Plus Luke your boyfriend kind of also sucks.

Luke: What do you mean? Ethan is a lovely guy.

Michael: Yeah ok buddy.

Luke: How would you know? He has never spoke to you in his life and I haven't talked to you until today?

Michael: He is just like everyone else on the football team. A bully. Honestly how do you even tolerate him?

Luke: It's called love Michael!

Ashton: Ugh I just want to get out of this room!

Ashton's p.o.v

When the bell rang the principal came back and unlocked the door. We all went to the gym to get ready for class. When I finished getting changed the football guys were all laughing at us asking how detention was. 

Luke: Well the other 2 guys were cool I guess?

Ethan: You mean the freak Calum Hood? Did he even do anything or just sit alone in the corner?

Luke: We all talked.

Teammate: He talked?

Ashton: Well no he wrote stuff down but it was fine.

Ethan: And let me guess Michael was just stoned the entire time?

Luke: Ethan they are our friends.

Teammate: Friends ha!

Ashton: What's so funny?

Teammate: Why are you friends with the outcast and the stoner? They aren't even close in popularity to us?

Luke: So what? That shouldn't matter.

Tom: Guys get in here and get warmed up!

After hearing my dad yell at us we followed his orders and left the change room.
