- Jeon Jeongguk –
I sit outside the school, at one of the lunch tables, across from Taehyung. We wait in awkward, uncomfortable silence as we wait for the rest of the Ghosts to get out to the courtyard for lunch. Hoseok and Namjoon both wanted to meet out here for different reasons, which is pretty nerve-wracking. Namjoon I understand, as its most likely just discussing how we're going to blackmail the guy who the Pink Girls are having a hard time with. But Hoseok? He rarely asks for a meet up, and he doesn't usually look as unnerved as he did this morning. He's usually the cheerful-but-scary one who keeps us in line but is usually as happy as humanly possible, but this morning he was very timid and withdrawn, something that I'm not sure I've ever seen on him.
I'm pulled out of my thoughts when I see Tae give a weak wave to someone behind me. He doesn't wave to anyone, ever, except for Seokjin and Hoseok, and occasionally Namjoon, so I know it's one of them. I keep my eyes nervously looking down at the table, hearing someone sit down beside me and greet us in a deep voice that only belongs to Namjoon. Now that I know it's him, I also know that something must really be up, because Tae only waves at Namjoon when he is nervous about something and trust me, that doesn't happen.
"Hey!" I hear from across the courtyard, from the opposite direction Namjoon approached. This time, I look up. Jimin grins at me, dragging along a tired-looking Yoongi behind him. Jin and Hoseok are behind them, just walking slower. It looks like Jin is trying to calm Hoseok down, who gives us a big smile when I wave, but still looks very nervous. I feel my stomach start to do flips as I contemplate what might be so severe that it makes Jung Hoseok this scared for more than a couple minutes.
It doesn't take too long for the whole group to be seated at the table. A few of us – Seokjin and I, to be more specific – immediately start digging into our lunches, whilst Taehyung and Hoseok look appetite-less and the others wait for Namjoon to start speaking. It's an unwritten rule that Namjoon speaks first at every meeting, unless the other news absolutely cannot wait. That, or if Jin says otherwise.
My mind flashes back to what I saw several mornings ago, in Jin and Namjoon's bedroom. Ew.
"So..." Namjoon begins, trying to speak over the tension at the table. "Basically, the blackmail target's name is Park Jisung... And it only took Seokjin and Taehyung about an hour to figure out that he's got three different girlfriends and none of them know about each other. They also got a video of him making out with one of them. So that problem basically solves itself." He yawns emphatically, bored with such an easy task. He turns to Hoseok, and the rest of us follow suit, looking over at him. He fidgets, seemingly getting more nervous by the second, especially as it dawns on him that it's his turn to speak.
"Hobi? Is everything alright?" Jin is the one to speak up, already almost done with his lunch. Hoseok makes eye contact with Joon, who gives him a questioning look in return. He lets out a nervous sigh before he begins to speak.
"So... on my way to school this morning, I felt... watched. I didn't see anybody, but I've never.... I've never felt so unnerved by something I couldn't even see. And you guys know me and how jumpy I can be sometimes... but this was different." He pauses, looking around nervously. Namjoon starts to speak, but Hoseok puts his hand up, telling him he isn't done. As much as Namjoon is respected as the leader and Seokjin as the eldest, everyone knows that outside of working, Hoseok is in charge of all of us. He speaks again, after a couple more moments of glancing around. "Plus, this afternoon, when I was passing by the Principal's office with Taehyung... we heard them talking." Hoseok's fear comes back quickly, taking over the momentary dominance that had been there. He leans back and gives a nod to Taehyung to continue talking for him.
