Surprise Saturday update to make up for missing last week due to being sick. RIP all my attempts at consistency.
- Kim Taehyung -
I'm seated comfortably in my school's outdoor section of the lunchroom, munching down on some crisps, when I'm startled by a pair of hands grabbing my shoulders. I freeze up in slightly fearful anticipation, but relax as I feel the grip loosen, and recognize the grip to be Seokjin's. He gives my shoulders another quick squeeze before letting go and sitting himself next to me. Hoseok also comes from behind me, sitting down directly across from me. A feeling of discomfort settles in the pit of my stomach as I avoid eye contact with Jin, seeing him watch me out of the corner of my eye.
My mind looks back on the night before. After Jin caught us, he just went quiet and faced away from us, I assume to go back to sleep. I thought - well, hoped - that he was done with it, but I've been getting weird looks from him all morning. Looks that... I'm not really familiar with. It's an odd, uncomfortable blend of amused, annoyed, and protective, almost like even he can't make up his mind on how to feel.
He's always been protective of us all, especially Jeongguk and Jimin. And despite the fact that he knows that I'm the first person, after Namjoon, to step in front of a bullet for the rest of the group... he also knows how sadistic and, to be honest, completely insane I am, as well as how destructive and unpredictable both Gguk and I are. And he'd be smart to be on edge about seeing us kiss.
Not that the kiss means anything, since Jeongguk's been avoiding me like the plague all day. Not even sparing me a passing glance, although I try not to get frustrated or upset by it. He's only fifteen, and even though that only makes him a year younger than me, I've learned over time that he has a very complicated thought process, and I'm not all that good about being consistent with how I express my feelings.
"Hey." I hear from across the table. I look up and see Joon standing next to Hoseok, giving me an amused look, and I realize that I must've been zoned out pretty hard, because I didn't even realize he was there until he spoke. "Pulling a Jeongguk today, huh Taehyungie?" He cracks. I give him a disapproving look, outwardly irritated by the cutesy name. I'm irritated inwardly as well, but also impressed at his constant ability to not be afraid of me.
The rest of the group makes their way to the table, but I'm distracted as I listen to Namjoon and Hoseok begin to discuss last night's events, and stuff like the watched feeling crossing over into today, which I've felt as well.
"Guys..." A voice quietly speaks from somewhere at the table. At first, I ignore it, listening to the discussion happening between Hoseok and Namjoon, mainly about last night, but the voice quickly becomes louder and slightly more panicked.
"Guys!"
We all look over in the direction of the voice, which was now clearly coming from Jimin. He lowers his voice again, keeping it low enough for just us to hear. He also puts a hand in front of his mouth, as though he's hiding what he's saying.
"We have, like... a really, really big problem." His eyes move between the group, and something over near the trees in front of the school. "Don't be obvious... but... look over behind Namjoonie-hyung."
My eyes follow his gaze, and I immediately see the problem. Two men, in "inconspicuous" suits and sunglasses stand over by the trees. The glasses hide where they are looking but it's not hard to tell that they're looking at us.
