PART 14: GENERAL ORDERS
Ah it's been a hot minute since I've posted anything. Might as well post something now, seeing as I'm standing duty for 24 hours.
Right now I am sitting in a room with a desk and a laptop on it, three chairs, a refrigerator, a microwave on top of it, and a rack in the corner of the room.
I could sleep on the rack but that would be disgusting because no one ever washes those sheets or that pillow so. Yeah you see where I am going with that. I guess I could talk about the marine general orders. There are 11 of them. And the marine general orders are important, especially when you're headed to bootcamp or IN bootcamp. In bootcamp they will DRILL these general orders in your brain.
General orders:
1. To take charge of this post and all government property in view
2. To walk my post in a military manner keeping always on the alert and observing everything that takes place within sight or hearing
3. To report all violations of orders I am instructed to enforce
4. Report all calls from post or distant from the guardhouse and my own
5. To quit my post only when properly relieved
6. To receive, obey and pass on to the sentry who relieves me, all orders from the Commanding Officer, Officer of the Day, Officers, and Non-Commissioned Officers of the guard only
7. To talk to no one except In the line of duty
8. To give the alarm in case of fire or disorder
9. To call the Corporal of the Guard in any case not covered by instructions
10. To salut all officers and all colors and standards not cased
11. To be especially watchful at night, and, during the time for challenging, to challenge all persons on or near my post and to allow no one to pass without proper authority
