Drew's Point of View:

Miss Solidad had just assigned May and I our seats for the rest of the year and I couldn't help the giant tick mark going off in my forehead as I watched her cheerfully skip towards Brendan as they smiled at each other. What the heck was that?? They've known each other for ONE HOUR!! We've been best friends since we were in diapers and she didn't even say anything to me after our song together or thank me for calming her down?!? I thought angrily to myself as I stomped to my seat next to Paul in a huff and threw myself into it with my arms crossed and chewing on my bottom lip in irritation. I stared ahead at Miss Solidad and could feel May's eyes burning into the back of my head, but I was determined not to turn around.

I began to grow excited though as Miss Solidad began her announcement that we would be broken into pairs to write and perform an original song for the class. Psh, May and I just did that! We've got this in the bag! I thought arrogantly to myself with a smirk on my face.

"I will break you off into pairs today..." Miss Solidad started to say.

WAIT! No!! Please let May and I get paired up together. Please please pllleeaaasseeeeeee. I desperately thought while crossing my fingers together under the desk.

"Leaf and Gary, Crystal and Jimmy, Brianna and Ursula, Drew and Paul..." Miss Solidad slowly announced while reading her list.

Dang it! Okay please pair her with Ash then. ANYBODY but that pretty boy back there. I mentally cursed to myself as my face began to get scrunched up with my eyes closed hoping for a miracle....but that miracle didn't happen.

"...Ash and Veronica, Melody and Serena, and May and Brendan. Please split off into your groups until the end of class!" She announced as she finished reading her list of pairings and pinned it to the board.

I could feel the scowl on my face forming, but I couldn't get it to go away. I glanced back at May and saw her eyes wide as she stared at Miss Solidad in what looked like disbelief. Well that makes two of us, May. I thought bitterly as I turned my desk to face Paul's. He was staring at me with a look of mingled amusement and exhasperation.

"What are you staring at?" I said as I cocked an eyebrow up at him.

"Are you serious? You were sitting there with your face screwed up and crossing your fingers like you were waiting to hear winning lottery numbers. It's just a project. Miss Solidad loves to give out projects at least once a month. You'll have an opportunity to get paired up with May for at least one of them." Paul said with a small chuckle and a bit of an eye roll.

"I don't know what you're talking about. I don't care if I'm paired up with May. Plenty of girls wish to get paired up with me." I said arrogantly and flicked my hair.

"Hmph. Pathetic." Paul stated bluntly and did roll his eyes at me that time.

"Let's just decide on our genre. We can hash out the finer details later." I said with my cheeks flaring up in irritation.

We decided on a baroque pop genre to utilize our classical training with the piano and viola while including a pop twist with the sound. As we discussed this I could feel my eyes drifting to the side where May and Brendan were deep in conversation. I saw her blush a couple of times and watched as he would place his hand on hers or grab both her hands and she made no effort to pull away. I could feel myself getting angrier every time I looked over at them.
