Chapter 13

May's Point of View:

After waving good bye to Brendan, I practically sprinted up the stairs to my room and flung myself through the door.

"OMG Dawn!!!! You will never believe the night I just had!!" I shouted excitedly while jumping on her bed where she was reading a fashion magazine.

"OOO!! TELL ME!! What happened with Brendan?!!??!?" She exclaimed while sitting up on her knees and grasping my hands with her own.

"We kissed!!!" I said while squealing and bouncing up and down on her bed.

"No way!! Tell me everything! Where?!?! How'd he do it?! Are you dating now?!" Dawn exclaimed with stars in her eyes.

"Well we met up in the cafeteria at 6 like I told you we were, and we spent about 2 hours together there in a nice secluded corner. He told me all about why he loves music and even invited me to meet his grandmother, who is a Lumiose City Star! Then he kept giving me such sweet and genuine compliments it took everything in me to stay calm! I've never gotten compliments like that from anyone before... And then we worked on our project for a while and after we were done he asked me if I wanted to go on a walk with him. He showed me the cityscape with all the criss-crossing lights, which was beautiful! Then he took me to his secret place he goes to relax and write music! I promised him I wouldn't tell where it is so I can't tell you where, but it was overlooking the campus and had a perfect view of the stars and had trees and flowers everywhere! I almost cried when I saw it! I've never gotten a gift like that from anyone, not my last boyfriend, not from Drew, and when i turned my head his face was right there, just inches away! We stared into each others eyes and I just couldn't help myself. He looked so handsome and perfect and.... I just went for it and I leaned forward and kissed him."  I told Dawn the whole story and scratched my head sheepishly at the end of it.

"OH MY GOODNESS!!!! How romantic!!!! I wish a guy would do that for me!! How'd he react when you kissed him?!" Dawn responded, completely enthralled by my story.

"He kissed me back and even lifted me off my feet! Then he carried me to a bench and we cuddled and watched the stars and he showed me different constellations and then he asked me to be his girlfriend! Then we headed back to the dorms. That's where it started to go downhill. Drew was there. I think he was waiting for me. He saw us holding hands but before I could even say anything he stormed away to the guys dorms. He kind of scared me honestly, he just looked SO mad. Brendan thinks he'll calm down and should be happy for me. I guess I'll try talking to him tomorrow if he'll let me." I ended the story with a sigh.

"Yeah I was going to tell you that Drew stopped by here around 8 o'clock looking for you to apologize. I just told him you weren't back yet and I'd let you know, but I guess he waited for you down stairs instead. I'm so sorry May. I think he really does want to be with you and that's why he got so mad." Dawn told me apologetically and patted my shoulder.

"I have given him AMPLE time to make a move! I've been dropping hints for the last TWO years! Ever since my last boyfriend dumped me, and he broke up with me for being friends with Drew, I've had feelings for him. He's been my best friend forever, but when he comforted me I realized I wanted to be more than friends. He never caught on though. I watched him flirt with girl after girl and date a few here and there, never for more than a month, and I didn't say anything. What could I say? 'Hey I'm your best friend and I know you kiss all these girls but I'd rather you kiss me?' And I would've waited for him! I waited for two years! But the MINUTE someone pays attention to me and I pay attention back is when Drew realizes he wants to be with me? And I don't even know that for sure because he won't say anything!! He just teases me and picks on me! Yes, sometimes he's sweet and comforts me, but those aren't super common. Brendan has complimented me in almost every conversation we've had! What girl wouldn't want that?? I don't want to lose my best friend, but I don't know what he wants from me." I ended my long-winded rant dejectedly.
