I replayed the sentence.
"I never thought I'd be the one to jump."
I really never thought about it. It never crossed my mind, but yet here I was. Heaven.
I tapped on the remote again, replaying the last scene of my life, where I leaped off my local bridge at the stroke of midnight. I watched as my body splashed into the shallow river and blood pooled around me. I didn't feel regret. I didn't feel anything except pity. The pity for Trixie as she found me dead in the river. The pity for Trixie when she was the one who pulled me out. The pity for Trixie when it was her who cried for me.
I tapped on the remote again, replaying the last scene of my life. I felt a tear run down my cheek and a sentence slip from my lips.
"I love you Trixie, forgive me."
