Too Close

I don't remember who I was, what I was. Everything was blurry like frost on a window pane. The skin I touched didn't feel like me, who was I? I rubbed my eyes with my foreign hands and felt something wet and pain pricked at my skin. I opened my eyes to see my thumb hanging by a spindly thread. My mouth became agape in shock. Black tar dripped out from the open wound and slowly but surely, it plopped onto the floor in a wet splat.

My thoughts raced in my head, I could no longer see the light in my tunnel vision. I was lost and these limbs, this body... I remember who they were. They were people I loved, I hurt them. I hurt them. I sewed them too close. Too close.

Too close.

"Trixie! Trixie! Wake up!"

I rubbed my eyes and muttered something obscure. I felt my body drenched in a cold sweat and my hands were clammy. Katya was rubbing my back up and down and patting my head. She hugged me tight.

"K-kitty, what happened?"

"You had a bad dream again, baby," she whispered softly as she caressed my hair.

I felt my breathing soften as I slipped into a deep sleep again in her embrace.

a/n - This one was a short one, but my mental health really isn't working for me right now 🤪
