I wake up to Miyoung holding on to me tighter than usual. Another panic attack.
I untangle myself from around her and sit her up. I help her go through this panic attack like any other one, and soon enough, she's fine.
"Thank you." She sighs and leans against the headboard of my bed.
"No problem." I smile and rub my hand on her thigh.
She takes a deep breath and just looks at me. "I had that dream again."
"Yea?"
She nods her head.
"Can I know what that dream is... or no? I don't want to pry or make you uncomfortable." I cross my legs and look into her eyes.
"I don't know, I'm just not ready yet." She sighs. "I'm sorry."
"It's completely fine, Miyoung." I want to know, but I don't need to know bad enough or make her uncomfortable. She needs to be ready and I can wait for it.
"Thank you." She smiles faintly.
"So, I have a question." I grab her hand and just look at it for a second.
"What's up?" She squeezes my hand and I look back up at her.
"Well, my cousin, the one that I was telling you about, I sit up on the roof at the family farm? The girl. Remember me talking about her?"
"Yes." She nods.
"Well, she's been engaged for a while and I wanted to invite someone to her wedding, but I didn't know who, I wanted to invite you, but we broke up, and now we're back together. So I just wanted to ask you if you wanted to go."
"Really?"
"Really. But if you're not ready to or don't want to, you don't have to it's perfectly fine."
"No, I'd love to." She smiles. Thank god. "Who all would be there?"
"Well, she's getting married to some guy I don't really know very well, or any of his family. But my aunts, uncles, cousins, grandparents, and everyone on my moms side will be there."
"What about your dad...?" She asks a little uncomfortably.
"He won't be there." I shake my head and she seems to immediately relax. "They all know he's an alcoholic and whatever, they don't know what he does to me, but they know that he's just a bad person... even though he puts a mask on when he's around them and is a completely different person. They still get along with him, but just didn't invite him. He's fine with it, he's still gonna be on his cruise then." I ramble.
"When is it? Cause I mean, I'll probably need to get a dress."
"Can I go with you when you get it? I really want to see some dresses on you, and it's couple days before my dad gets back from his trip, so..." I think for a second. "A week exactly. Is that okay?"
"Yea, that's fine, you can come with, and yes a week is plenty of time. It only takes one day to get a dress I'll only wear like once." She slightly laughs.
"The thing is though..." I don't know how to say the next thing.
"What?"
"My dad will be back when we're back, so we probably won't be here very often." I look at her to see if she's okay with it.
"Okay." She nods. "I don't know if we'll get much time, just the two of us, because Chenle is probably gonna be moving in with me for a little bit." She pauses to think for a second. "And isn't your family reunion in a week?"
"Yea, I thought about that too. I'm okay with it, if you are. And yea, she wanted to have her wedding at the family farm because everyone thought it was a really great idea." I explain.
"That's cute." She smiles, then it quickly fades.
"What?" I furrow my eyebrows.
"I just realized I'm gonna be meeting like all your family." She exhales with a worried smile.
"Miyoung, it's okay. My mom's side of the family is so sweet and funny. But if you aren't ready to meet them or don't want to, you don't have to go, I get it." I hold her hands.
"No, I'd love to, really. It's just, I realized everything has happened so fast." She shakes her head and looks at her blanket. "I'm glad we're together..." She trails off.
"But you want to slow it down." I squeeze her hand.
"Yea." She nods and looks back at me. "I do still want to go with you to the wedding though."
"I know." I smile. "But you're right. Everything has happened really fast. I mean within like a couple weeks of just starting to talk we had sex." I shake my head, kind of wishing we would've taken our time.
"I mean, I'm not mad about it." She laughs.
"Oh, me neither. It was great." I laugh with her.
"But, I kinda want to just slow it down a bit. And let everyone know we're back together. Having everyone just find out wasn't a good idea." She sighs.
"Me too. I think slowing it down and just being open about us being in a relationship would be so much easier on all of us." I agree.
She pauses. "I'm, uh..." She shakes her head. "I'm sorry for not trying to work it out between us, and just not being as good as I could be to you." She looks me in my eyes.
I wrap her in my arms and just hold her. "You made me happy, that's all that matters."
