My name is Martha, the Saint of Orphelius. Of course, I never did call myself that. It was horribly embarrassing, after all. Even so, it seems to have caught on among the people. If my title brings hope to them, then I will gladly accept it. Perhaps that was the reason why the Thorium Theocracy requested me to assist the hero on his journey.

Being part of the hero's party was a bit annoying at times, although I kept that complaint to myself. The only person who I ever truly got along with was with our six man party's druid. He was calm, collected, and mature. His stories of nature may bore some to sleep, but for me it was fascinating to listen to. Perhaps it's just because both of us were healers.

Our mage was...well, she gets flirty with the hero. I didn't particularly mind since I wasn't into the hero, but it gets irritating to watch when you have to spend so much time with the group. It didn't help that the hero is insufferably dense, so at some point I just wanted to yell for them to get a room already. That wasn't good, though. I was a saint. Calm and elegant.

The mage wasn't a harlot, no. I think she genuinely did love the hero, even if her location and time of expressing it can be slightly bothersome. I-I definitely wasn't jealous of her mature curves and bod—ahem. How inappropriate for a saint.

Our warrior was the useless muscle head. I must admit, he definitely was useful in fights. That I could not deny. However, there was a difference between bravery and testosterone fueled acts of stupidity. If he wasn't that much of an idiot, pardon my language, I could spend most of my mana healing someone who needed it more.

The rogue was just in it for the money. From the very beginning, I suppose a priest like me and a outlaw like him were never meant to get along. However, I understood some people just had it tough. So I could tolerate him, but we weren't terribly close. So I would say we were acquaintances? He seemed like a good man, though. Shame the hardships of life got to him before the goodness of his heart did.

Finally, we have the hero. You know, I wasn't that much of a person to care for politics. Still am not. However, I'm beginning to wonder if heroes were selected by the Theocracy based on their easiness to manipulate.

This might be slightly unladylike of me, more so for a saint that should be the symbol of hope and purity for the people, so please excuse me for just a few moments.

The hero is a huge dumb ass! He could literally become your dog, by dangling "do this because of justice" in front of his head that was filled with nothing but water! His ideals were so naive that it looped all the way around back to lunacy! I shouldn't say this as a saint, but that man had no salvation! No, to describe him as a man was an insult! He was nothing but a boy! A toddler!

Makes me wonder why I had a crush on him when we were kids, damn it! If we hadn't became childhood friends in my attempts at getting closer with him, I would have never became a saint that accompanied him on his journey! I would be happily serving a church somewhere, healing the weak!

Ahem. Pardon my breach of etiquette. Please forget that.

The hero's irresponsibility was the entire reason why we hadn't even reached the frozen north yet. Case in point, this trip to the port city of Orphelius. The place that was the namesake for my saint title. Well, not exactly.

When one said Orphelius, most would assume you to be referring to the city of Orphelius, the busiest port of the Koraine Kingdom. However, there was also the province of Orphelius, which the port city was the capital of.

The hero and I were born in a village within the province of Orphelius, before moving to the Theocracy after a decade. Since nobody would care for the name of the village, most people would simply remember me from the province where I was from. However, since the port city was more famous due to a certain reputation she earned during wartime, I was remembered as "the maiden from the impregnable naval fortress".
