She waded through the field of red and yellow, brushing her hands through the petals. This was her safe place. The place no one came to but her and the sweet birds that sung at her arrival. She had always loved nature, she thought that every animal had a place in the world, they deserved to be here just as much as humans did.

She settled down on a smooth rock at the edge of the field, right next to the fence, her trousers snagged at the hem on thorns and branches but she didn't care. She closed her eyes and took a deep breath, a giant goofy smile illuminating her face. She had the whole day to herself. No school, no chores and no siblings that ran around screaming. She just wanted more than anything for peace and with her twin brother and sister around there was no chance at that.

She bent over, reaching for a daisy growing tall and proud from the uneven ground. She plucked it from the grass and absentmindedly reached for another forming a long chain that she wrapped around her head in a circle, creating a crown of flowers. These were her favourite pass times, just being able to walk around and create daisy chains. When she was little she used to create chain upon chain and braid them into her mothers long brown hair.

She set down the chain and stood up, the day would soon turn to night and she had already been late home once this week. She quickly stood, brushing off the chains from her trousers but saving one for her mother and she ran, not slowing even to watch the sunset.

She reached her home just in time as her mother and father opened the door.

"Olivia!" they said, giving her a hug, "How was your day, sweetheart?" asked her father, shutting the door and leading her towards the living room.

"It was great dad!" Olivia said, she presented her mother with the chain, "I made this for you, mum!"

Her mother took the chain and smiled, "Thank you, darling,"

"Now," said her father, "This is a very special day..."

"HAPPY BIRTHDAY!"

A huge sound broke out as dozens of Olivia's friends burst out from hiding and rushed to hug her.

Olivia laughed and smiled, thanking every one, she had almost forgot today was her birthday.

"We love you, sweetheart." said her dad, squishing her in a hug followed by her mother.

"I love you to!"
