My walking gets interrupted by the chaotic sounds of other young teens, talking, and laughing with friends.
I quickly head up the concrete stairs and into the crowded of the joint school. My feet quickly take me through the hoard of kids, filling the school.
I finally get to my first period, heading to my seat as the the bell rings for the classes to begin. The first class being English goes off without hitch. The teacher gave us today off, and just let us relax, it being the last day and all.
As the day progresses most of the teachers do the same. In some classes however we were tasked with doing a small craft to pass our time, before moving to our next one. S
Study Hall however the teacher decided to let us have a party. In other words he brought some large Soda Pop containers, a couple of treats, and let us enjoy our lest hour of the school year.
My class mates and I talked amongst ourselves. Mainly reminiscing of the past school year. Laughing about funny events, all eventually coming to the depressing relization that in a mear couple of minutes it will be over.
We were all mainly emotional about how all we wont be able to see each other until next year. Most of the class and mine own friends going away for the summer on summer vacations. As for me and my family, we're staying in Derry.
Me having a small summer job to keep me busy. Helping a local bakery deliver their products across town. Not very entertaining, but it will get me and James out of the house for awhile. Also the promise of getting payment for our efforts being the main reason I said "Yes." to the offer.
As the final bell chimes throughout the hall. Every other class rushing out in excitement for the long awaited time off. Everyone in my class including the teacher, seem to be sluggish in their endeavors of leaving this perticular group.
All of us kids, get in for one last group hug, before stuffing the remainding treats, and pop into our bags nefore slinging it overour shoulders. As we leave this room for the last time, the teacher stands there. The older man's white hair and receading hair line, frames his sorrowful smile, as he shakes our hands for the last time.
"Have a great summer, don't forget to come visit me next year." He says in a happy, yet dejected voice as he shakes my hand.
I smile up to him, "Of course Mr.Williams, you can't get rid of me that easy. You'll have to deal with me dropping and causing trouble next year." I give a laugh before heading out, and into the less crowded hallway.
I look at the time on the clock above me to see there is still an hour before my brother gets off from his school. I walk around aimlessly before I hear water coming from the girl's bathroom. Out of curiosity I follow it, slowly opening foor I see Beverly Marsh.
Her bwing in the grade younger than I, I don't know much about her. The rumors around town says she goes around town, having "fun" with all the young boys in Mane. Then again, I've never believe rumors, unless I hear it straight from the horses mouth.
I slowly walk in to see she's quietly sobbing, as she cleans herself off. The smell around the bathroom, says she's been "canned." She turns around, her eyes widen at the sight of me. The red headed girl quickly dries her tears with a paper towel. "What do you want." She spits to me, taking the usual question, and turns it into a harsh statement.
I ignore her for a moment, as I rummage through my bag, finding some perfume. I smile and stretch it out to the younger girl. "Here, it's not a-alot.. b-but I'm sure it'll help a little." I give her a soft smile, the red headed girl looks at me questioningly, before the girl takes the soft floral scented perfume.
After smelling it, making sure she likes the scent I assume, and spraying it on herself, the pale girl gives it back to me. "Thanks.. I'm Beverly Marsh.. Bev." Her freckled cheeks smile, as her eyes gaze down to me.
"Kelsey Baker, really whatever you want to call me is fine by me." We both giggle at the end, before the taller girl nods.
"Kels." The girl states as her head nods approvingly at her new nickname for me. I return her name with a smile and a nod of my own, before looking at my watch. Noticing it's about time I should start heading to pick up James.
"Shit I gotta go, or else my brother will wonder off on his own." I explain as I put my perfume back in my back. "See you around Bev." I say as I walk and go out the bathroom door.
"See ya' Kels!" Hearing voice echo in my ears, before the door closes shut. My feet walk down the halls, and out the door, down the path I won't be taking until next school year. About two months before the next trip, and this mundane routine will happen again.
I hear the school bell ring for the elementary, as I start to enter the property of the school, right on time for the kids to start coming out. Standing beside mother's and father's all ready to pick up their eager child for the long anticipated time off.
Slowly the younger kids start filing out of the small red bricked school. Most coming out with either treats, crafts, or grocery bags filled with treats and crafts. I wait patiently as I watch for the long haired blond boy to come running out.
After about five minites, the young male comes running down the conrete path. A bag of his treats in his hand, papers and crafts sticking out of his backpack. "Keke, look what I got!" He yells excitedly as he comes running to me.
"What ya' got there, James?" I proclaim excitedly, showing him I'm intrested. He opens his bag showing a bunch of treats and goodies they had today in class. "That's awesome boyo, ready to go home? Or.. maybe we could stop by the store and get you some Pop?" He answers with he eyes widening, jumping as he nods.
"Yes yes!" Eagerly he undoes his bike bike, and hops on his bike, giving me his grocery bag. "Lets go Keke!" He yells as he starts peddling off.
"Hey, you better slowl down or you can kiss that Pop goodbye sir!" I yell as I run after him.
