"So why do you really want to be a doctor?" Julie asked Tim.

Tim felt like it was an interview question and 'because my dad is one' wouldn't do. Gathering his thoughts. "I have always loved spending time at my father's office. Medicine intrigues me, but I love to see the patients leave with a smile even when they had arrived frowning. They are our friends and neighbors because I grew up in a very small town.

"I think I started to like helping people feel better after my mother died. My dad was always sad, and I was the only one who could cheer him up. When he smiled, I felt like everything would be okay. In time, it was okay. Thanks to Mum. Anyway, that was a long answer but I like to make people feel better."

She smiled and Tim thought it was the most beautiful thing he had ever seen. He hadn't forgotten her and couldn't believe him luck when he saw her at the cinema.

"Well, you've made me feel better after my date stood me up."

Tim and Nick spoke at the same time.

"Date?" Tim frowned.

Nick asked, "What's stood up?"

She turned her attention toward Nick. "It's when you make plans and the person doesn't show up."

"I would never forget you," Nick said.

Tim smiled because his brother was as taken with Julie as he was.

"Thank you Nick." She smiled but her eyes locked on Tim's. They uniquely combined blue and green. He didn't want to look away.

"You should come upta camp with us this summer. We can swim and take out the rowboat." Nick bounced excitedly in his seat.

Julie looked at Tim for help because she didn't know how to answer the boy.

Clare interrupted. "Nicky, Julie wouldn't come to Maine to see you!"

"She would to!" Nick whined.

"Nah. uh."

"Yesuh."

Tim stopped the bickering. "Julie just met us. Don't scare her away." He was nervous that his brother and sister would drive the most amazing girl away.

"They couldn't do that. We're already fast friends. Unfortunately, I don't travel much so I can't make any promises although I've never been to Maine. Do you really live in the woods?"

Tim laughed. "Who told you that? We live in a town about twenty minutes from Portland. There's a large lake where our camp is but we live in a regular house."

"Is it a camp with a tent?"

Nick laughed. "No, it's a cabin."

Tim explained that in Maine, camp is a rustic getaway on a lake or near the mountains. "My Mum and Dad are planning to have a house built on the land. So when it's done we'll live by the lake... not that I ever go home." He looked at his watch. "We should get going. They're driving back tonight. We'll drop you home."
