Danica watched Moe and Samuel go downstairs before she asked, "Do you need any help with supper?"
Sondra shook her head and held the ice pack to her aching shoulder as she said, "It is basically done until Hillary gets here, but I need to keep an eye on it."
"That's good. Then you can go change into one of Jamie's halter tops," Danica informed Sondra.
No point in arguing, Sondra acknowledged as she followed Danica. Besides, Danica had always been in charge of scrapes, bumps, and bruises. It would be stupid to challenge her just because a small argument earlier, or because she wished to spend longer with Moe.
However, when Danica came in with Sondra to change, she knew Danica had something else on her mind than her injury. Danica didn't keep her in suspense though, and hardly waited for the door to shut before she said, "I'm sorry I got mad earlier. It really is a big deal for you to go with Moe to the dance, but what I really want to know is how did you convince him to come back to school? After that picture message, I wasn't sure even you could get him back."
Sondra blushed as Danica handed her a shirt, and kept her voice casual as she answered, "After I saw the scars, I told him that even though they weren't pretty they couldn't hurt him anymore."
Danica shook her head and said, "I'm surprised he didn't swipe your phone to keep the pictures from you."
Sondra announced, "He didn't take my phone. I gave it to him."
"Then how did you see his scars?"
Sondra turned away, but replied, "I didn't look at the picture. I looked at his back."
Danica blinked, and her mouth opened and closed several times.  Then, Danica's eyes lit up and she started to grin. "I bet that was interesting," Danica teased as she quirked an eyebrow.
Remembering how intimate it felt to slide his shirt up, Sondra felt herself turning bright red. Not knowing what else to say, she retorted, "You seemed to spend some time with Samuel tonight."
Danica beamed, and let Sondra change the subject. "We talked a lot on the way over here. He actually seemed to notice me tonight."
Sondra smiled and said, "I'm glad to hear that." She paused and blurted out, "Moe told me about his brother and invited me to go with on Sunday."
Danica froze in shock before she blurted out, "I take back everything I said earlier. You have made HUGE progress. NO ONE is allowed to go with on that trip except Moe or Dad. This is even bigger than the dance."
Sondra gave a small groan and said, "Way to help me calm down. I need help here."
Danica snorted and replied, "I think that you are finally on the right track.  I'll try to back off and let you move at your own speed, but teasing might still happen."
Sondra said, "No, really, I need some help here."
Danica turned noticed that Sondra was in the halter top, but could not raise her hurt arm high enough to tie it. As Danica hurried over to help, she said, "I think your arm is stiffening up. Let's start the next step."
Moe came back up just after Hillary arrived to finish supper, and right before Sondra was due to work at the counter.  When he got upstairs, Sondra was just taking the ice off her shoulder. With her wearing the halter top he was able to see the dark swollen bruise spreading over her upper arm and shoulder. The skin around it was bright red from the ice packs.
