Lover's passage

Chapter 20

I'm such a dumbass. I'm such a dumbass. I'm such a dumbass. I'm such a dumass.

I repeat over and over in my head as I walk quietly through the forest. Minutes ago I was on the dirt road but now I look all around me and just see the forest. 

"Grayson?" I loudly try to whisper. As I look around the pillars of trees trying to find any sign of him near. 

I walk on through the forest "Grayson?!" I whisper again.

"Would you stop yelling?!" I hear a muffled voice say ahead of me.

"Is that you Grayson?" I whisper while walking towards the tree.

"Who else would it be?" His says obviously annoyed.

I walk up to the tree and am about to make a smart remark but when I walk behind it I see Grayson sitting down on the forest floor holding his right arm and his white button-up has blood on it.

"What the hell happened to you?!" I kneel down to him and grab his arm to see the damage.

"ow for Christ's sake Quin let go." He tugs his arm back and scowls at me. "That bloody bastard grazed my arm with a bullet."

"Well come on let's get you up." I grab onto his good arm and help him up.

"Do you even know where the hell we are going?" 

"No I don't but since you're such the smart ass you can pick the direction."

I can't see him too clearly due to it being dark but I could practically feel him rolling his eyes at me.

We start walking in a random direction and don't say a word. 

After a while, I could already feel the tension in the air and knew that Grayson was mad at me.

I nudge him a little and quietly say "You know I should be the one who is mad at you. You said you had work but you weren't in your office. Are you cheating on me?"

"Oh yes, of course, I am Quinn" He raises his voice "I go out every single fucking night instead of staying at the office and I fuck someone because I'm the kind of person that cheats on his hot wife." he ends on a sarcastic tone.

I could feel my blood pressure start to rise and my face starts to heat up from anger "Well then Grayson please explain to your wife what you were doing."

He just sighs "I felt bad that I've been working a lot lately so I wanted to surprise you at home."

I let a small smile come across my face "Yeah what did you do?"

"I got candles and put them around the tub and got your favorite bath salts and bubble bath. Then I bought your favorite movie and food."

I almost cry at the thought of taking a bath right now, well a shower to get off all this dirt and twigs in my hair then a bath to relax my muscles. 

I stop Grayson from walking and turn so that I'm standing in front of him.  

"Thanks, Grayson." 

I cup his cheek before standing on my toes and kissing him. Then I turn back around and keep walking like nothing happened. I turn to look back at him but then jump in triumph and he gives me a weird look.

"Grayson look over there" I point to the side of him.

"There are lights shining."

"Exactly, let's go."

"Oh gosh, am I glad to see you." Colon runs up to me and gives me a hug before letting go and slapping me on the back of my head 

"Ow"

"That's what you get for being so stupid." He gives me a look before turning to Grayson "They have a medic on the road which is over there so let's go. " 

I look around at all the police officers holding flashlights 

"Thank you all for looking for us. Did you find Slader? the tall buff guy?"

One of the officers speaks up as we walk back "Yes we arrested him and he's going in for questioning. We need to take you two in for statements and questioning."

"What a shitshow." Grayson sighs as he unlocks our front door. It was already dawn by the time the police let us go. They took Slader in and plan on sending him to prison until they figure out a court date. The detective that talked to us said that they collected plenty of evidence to put Slader away for life.

I walk into the house right after Grayson and just nod my head too tired to talk.

I almost pee my pants when a booming voice says "Why the hell did you burn the ledger!?"

Grayson and I both look up to see his dad and mom standing in the hallway staring at us.

"Why the hell are you in my house?" Grayson tiredly answers back.

"Oh honey, the police called and told us what happened, we just wanted to make sure you were ok." Grayson's mom says sweetly.

"Well, obviously I'm fine."

"right obviously you're fine you only got shot." I roll my eyes and Grayson's mom gasps

"Grazed by a bullet." He quickly fixes.

"And I was the one who burned the ledger. I knew Grayson wasn't stupid enough to bring the actual ledger so me knowing that it was probably fake, I lit that sucker on fire." I explain to Colton and he looks at his son.

"I-I uh it was the real ledger," Grayson whispers and diverts his eyes.

"You mean you brought the real ledger?!" I gasp at him and he looks at my angry eyes before shrugging

"You mean a lot to me, babe."

I can do quicker updates but shorter chapters or longer updates and longer chapters. Also it's my last day in vegas guysss!!! I'm so excited to go home!
