We landed in Rome, and took a train to the coast. We stayed at a hotel with a surrounding village, with little shops and houses, a market, and a lot of sunshine. Our room overlooked the almost empty beach, and you could see the nearby vineyard. I was silent the whole time. I took a nap in the room, and when I woke up, Niall perked up.

"Come on, Lib, let's go get some dinner." He said, and I nodded. I changed into a floral henley and jean shorts. I put on flip-flops and let my hair fall to my shoulders in its waves. My hair never looked right.

Niall took me to dinner, and I just had a piece of pizza and an iced tea. It was past dusk after we had picked up the check. Everything was seemingly running together.

I made the turn to go back upstairs, but Niall stopped me."Come on, this way." He took my hand and led me around the back. "I found this place while you were sleeping." He said. It was a patch of grass, no more than eight feet by eight feet. It was lined by bushes. Niall sat down and patted the ground next to him. I sat down.

"Lay down." He said, while he lay down himself. I laid down putting my head on his chest. "Elizabeth, are you okay?"

"Yea."

"Be honest."

"No."

"Just tell me. Why is the breakup hurting you so badly?"

"I trusted him. I thought he was a good guy, and everything just crashed. It all just crashed right down in front of me, and there was nothing I could do to stop it."

"He didn't deserve you." I let out a laugh as Niall said this. "What? What's funny?"

"Everyone always tells you that after the breakup. That the other person didn't see how amazing you were, and they never really deserved you, but what if I didn't deserve him? I've never felt beautiful, or secure about who I am. I'm not interesting, or funny. I'm needy, and I cry too much. I act too strong when I shouldn't. I've always believed in fairytales, but they're not real. I don't have a fairytale life, and probably never will."

"But you're perfect." Niall whispered.

"No, you're perfect, Niall." I told him. "You're nice and funny and caring. Any girl who ends up with you is a lucky one."

He sang. "Look at the stars, look how they shine for you, and everything you do."

"Niall, that's a great song."

"I know, and the stars, they shine, and so do you, Elizabeth. You've got a fire in you, and you shine bright."

"Then why do I feel like a black hole?"

"You know how black holes are made?" He asked, and I shook my head. "It starts out as a star, and when the star dies, it becomes a black hole, sucking everything in that comes near it."

"So, I'm a dead star."

"No. You're a less-bright star than you were. I think that someone dimmed you, and you've been down, and you're waiting for someone to let you shine as bright as you can."

"I'm waiting."

"I'm here." I looked up at him, and he was looking down at me. I sat up.

"What?"

"You're the most beautiful, intelligent, funny, amazing girl I've ever met. I want to be your shoulder to cry on, your back to lean on, your hand to hold; your everything. Please, let me be yours." Niall pleaded.

I leaned in, slowly closing my eyes, and I kissed him. In that moment, there was magic, and everything was perfect.

However, we had crossed the line of friendship. It could ruin everything if this all ended badly. My eyes shot open and I jumped up. I went upstairs to the room, quickly changed and went to bed. I heard Niall come in later. He sat on the edge of my bed.
