I'm positive I only told one person this story I'm about to tell. It's kind of an awkward story. Anyway, this story is about the time I went on a date, but not really a date.

It was in the summer when this happened. My mom was texting her friend from high school (we'll call her Harriet) and they wanted to get together. My parents brought me along with them as Harriet and her husband brought their son. Their son is only a year older than me, so my mom figured we could hang out. We all decided to meet at the boardwalk near us and eat there. This is where the awkwardness begins.

So, my mom sat me right across Harriet's son. We are going to call her son Jimmy. Jimmy and I were pretty much at our own table, while our parents chatted at another table. And right before my mom left, she whispered to me "I hope you know that I'm not setting you two up." Which made me feel awkward around Jimmy.

Fast forward to a while later, I found out that Jimmy and I weren't that different. We both don't like condiments, we both have old phones, and we both practically hung to our mothers' hips once we all went to the bar section of the restaurant. Our moms eventually were getting annoyed that we weren't doing our own thing, so they forced us to go the arcade.

There, we pretty much spent all our money on the wheel of fortune game, where we didn't win anything until our last round. Literally the girl that was working it said "I'm glad you guys finally won. You've been playing this game for hours." We took our prize and went. Finally Jimmy and I had our first conversation about how that girl was a douche canoe for letting us spend all our money on the stupid game.

The next day, my mom got a text from Harriet saying how I wasn't a normal bitchy teenage girl and that she thought I was cool.

And sadly that was sort of, but not really my first date. Anybody have awkward stories like this one? Please say yes. And if you think this story was boring and a waste of your time, comment and tell me that! Because I just realized that now. Oh well, too late. Should have bought a tap light.
