HYUCK

After disconnecting the call, Donghyuck lets out a high pitched screech as he falls back onto his bed, legs kicking at the air excitedly.

Whilst happily thrashing around, Donghyuck fails to notice Jaemin slip into his room, an amusing glint in his eyes.

"Well well well..."

Donghyuck rolls onto his side and looks up at his best friend with big eyes.

"I take it the video call went well?"

Donghyuck breaks out into a wide grin, before reaching out and making grabby hands at Jaemin, the other chuckling softly before launching himself next to Donghyuck, wiggling so that he's warmly tucked into his friend's side.

"Nana.." Donghyuck whines, placing his hands on Jaemin's cheeks so that he can turn his face, eyes locked with Donghyuck's, "I just talked to Mark... I talked to him..."

Jaemin smiles fondly as Donghyuck's head falls back onto his pillow, letting out a sigh, "you did"

"I can't believe we just talked... and like... it didn't feel awkward- not at all- it felt like I've known him for years, Nana..."

Donghyuck turns onto his side as Jaemin does, so that they're facing each other, "He was so cute.. he kept stuttering and he dropped his phone... and gosh towards the end he started yawning- it was adorable, he looked like a little baby lion or something"

As Donghyuck breaks out into a little giggle, Jaemin can't help but to laugh along with him, "I really hope you guys get to meet each other... have you spoken about it?"

Donghyuck looks up at Jaemin, his eyes wavering slightly, "about meeting.. in person?", to which Jaemin nods in return, "we... talked... about it briefly.. we just kinda said that we want it to happen and that was really it... I didn't want to get my hopes up... we were talking, like actually talking and I just wanted to live in the moment- I didn't want to start thinking about the practicality of it all and then get upset"

Jaemin hums in understanding, shuffling a little closer to Donghyuck so that it made it easier for him to wrap his arm around his friend and pull him close, "like you said, don't worry about that right now... you two just had like an hour video call- Taeyong was going nuts because you weren't answering his calls"

Donghyuck stifles a laugh as Jaemin explains that he had to come up and make sure Donghyuck was all packed, instead of Taeyong barging in during his and Mark's call

"Which reminds me..." Jaemin trials off, and sits up, detaching himself from Donghyuck to which the other whines at, "you need to pack, we're leaving in like 2 hours"

At that Donghyuck huffs, rolling himself away from Jaemin and almost falling off the bed in the process, "don't wanna", he sulks, pouting and Jaemin sighs dramatically

"If you pack now we can get an episode of Sky Castle in before we leave for the airport--"

Jaemin doesn't even finish his bargin before Donghyuck ever so gracefully rolls off his bed, landing in a heap on the floor.

Jaemin laughs as Donghyuck pulls himself up, quickly grabbing his backpack and suitcase before throwing random shirts, along with his passport and other necessities, into his bags.

Donghyuck smiles to himself as he closes his Instagram app, thinking about the prospects of texting with Mark tomorrow- in between Mark's classes and after Donghyuck lands.

Jaemin throws himself back onto the bed, and thus onto Donghyuck after drawing the hotel's curtains so that they can watch their episode in complete and utter darkness before they're called to the lobby.

Donghyuck places his phone down on the nightstand as the familiar opening sequence begins to play, and he settles himself amidst all the pillows, Jaemin's arm draped across his shoulders.

Leaning into his best friend, Donghyuck can't help but wonder how Mark would feel- lying down next to him, the casual touch of their hands as they brushed against each other, how Mark would react when Donghyuck would wrap his own arms around Mark's waist, for comfort and warmth.

Donghyuck thinks back to Mark's red cheeks, his nervous stutter and his adorable laugh... and something in Donghyuck yearns for him to be able to find out what Mark would be like as a constant and physical presence in his life.

Shaking his head, Donghyuck focuses on the characters on the screen, letting himself slip into the world of lies, murder and deceit of his favourite show, and even now, even watching Sky Castle with Jaemin, does Mark cloud every inch of Donghyuck's brain, every thought is now with Mark.
