I stood there and watched as he took in the sight before him.

Calebs headstone.

He dropped down to his knees running his hands over the words carved into the stone.

'Caleb logan leblanc
A brother, A son, A friend, An angel taken way to soon'

They were simple words, words that only partly described caleb as a person but it wasn't about what was written on his headstone it was about how we would remember him.

"Hi buddy" he whispered "i'm sorry I haven't came sooner......things are different, i moved to texas i have two dogs now remember when we'd talk about getting dogs? Yeah i-" he spoke but stopped halfway

"This is so weird talking to a piece of stone....i have thousands of things to tell you but im afraid you won't hear any of them"

I placed a hand on his shoulder and he turned looking up at me tears clouding his vision

"Take your time and if this isn't how you want to tell him things we can do something else"

He frowned before speaking up

"Like what?"

I smiled taking out my phone and texting asher

"Lanterns" i stated while typing asking asher to pick up some from the store.

"Lanterns?" His asked his gaze fixated back on the stone

"You write on a piece of paper and attach it to the Lantern then you send it up, to heaven, to caleb" I explained with a smile

"Can we do that?" He asked his voice hoarse and i took my eyes away from my phone my eyes softening as I watched him stare back at me with watery eyes

"Of course my bo- friend is going to pick us up" i said my cheeks flushing from almost slipping up.

Was asher my boyfriend? Or just a boy who is a friend that i had kissed a few times?

I shrugged my thoughts off and watched as hayden ran his hand over the stone before standing back up.

We began to walk away a awkward silence in the air

"You can say boyfriend infront of me you know? I ruined our relationship not you im glad you've moved on" he spoke up taking me by surprise

"No i- its not you-i mean" I stuttered before screwing my eyes shut shaking my head laughing "he's not my boyfriend" i opened my eyes telling him this

Hayden raised a eyebrow

"Really? You guys seemed really close the other day i'm sure i almost saw you kiss?" His tone was slightly teasing

I laughed gently nudging him

"Shut it" i said and he let out a small laugh

"But seriously im happy you've moved on, that you're happy"

"I am too" i replied with a smile

{sorry these past two chapters are not focused on ashannie as much I wanted to add the storyline with hayden for multiple reasons:)}
