"I have brand new identities for you. Names, passports, driving licenses, birth certificates and everything else you will need." I nod as he slides the documents towards us. Opening them up I read mine.
Annalise Evans
Born 19/07/1999 – Hot Springs, South Dakota
Parents deceased and brother sole guardian.
I am flicking, there was my birth certificate, they even changed my parents names this time. Then my passport, the picture was the most up to date one you could get of me. I closed my folder; I didn't want to be here. Having to live another life, never knowing if today could be my last. Tears start to leave my eyes as I think of the guys back in Louisiana, I look at my watch to see that it was nearly 1 o'clock. That means the guys are going to be arriving at my house soon.
I come out of my trance to hear my name being called.
"Katherine." I look up at Matthew, still not use to hearing that name. "I have some new number plates for your car. It helps to keep you safe if the car is untraceable." I shake my head.
"Those number plates were given to me by pa as a birthday present. I can't just bin them."
"You don't have to bin them. They just can't be on your car, if he knows your number plates, he has the ability to easily track you. You can keep them at home." He turns his attention towards my brother. "Here are the keys to your new home." Placing them into his hand, Daniel turns to me.
"So, what will I be calling you now?" I smile.
"My names Annalise, what's yours?"
"The names Jayden." I let out a little giggle as he tries to play the bad boy.
"I guess we have personas to live up to then Jayden. You can't exactly be a kind-hearted boy with that name." I give him a big goofy smile and he sends me a wink.
"I guess we do Annalise. Time to buy ourselves some motorbikes." We thank Matthew for his help and leave the police station, I look over to my car and decide it was best for me to leave it there so they can change the plates. Jayden places his arm around my shoulder and kisses the top of my head.
"This is what is best for us Annalise, we can finally feel a little safer now." I nod and start to walk in the direction that Matthew told us to go. Before long we had reached the shop, walking inside everyone turned towards us. I stare at them as they look us up and down, rolling my eyes I glance over all the motorbikes until one catches my eye. Instantly I am drawn across the room, I walk up to the bike and read the sign. 'Yamaha $22,999' I raise my eyebrows to the price and turn around, I scan the room and look for Jayden. I see him across the room and walk up to him.
I walk up to him and see that he was looking down at his phone, I glance over his shoulder to see that he was looking at his bank account. I don't bother looking to see how much he has got; I turn my attention to the bike he was standing in front of. '2019 Harley Davidson Iron 1200 $9,999'
"Annalise."
"Yes?" I turn around and look at him, he was holding his phone out to me. I took a step towards him and looked at what he was trying to show me. His bank account. It read $100,000, I stare at his bank balance and then quickly fumble to get my phone out of my pocket. Logging in to my mobile banking app, I use my fingerprint to open it and my balance suddenly appears.
$100,000. I suddenly had a text message come through to my phone. The number wasn't in my contacts as we both had a brand-new phone. The message read; I'm sure you've seen by now that you bank balance is a lot higher than it was before. We thought you needed some funds to help get your new life started. Don't go wasting it. Matthew.
I stare in shock as I register what just happened. Matthew had given us $200,000 to help start our new life. I start to smile and instantly walk up to the till.
"How may I help you today?" I give her a small smile
"I would like to buy the Yamaha YZF-R1M Super sport, a racing Y10 helmet and the air force jacket." She stares at me for a moment, probably trying to work out if I mean what I am saying. I just stare back at her with a smile on my face.
"Okay, that will be $23,653.99." I nod and without thinking about it, I open my purse and take out my bank card. The transaction goes through just fine and she goes into the back to get the helmet and jacket while I wait beside my brand-new motorcycle. I look over to Jayden who has now walked over to the till with a massive smile on his face. After Jay made his purchase and we got all our belongings, we hit the road and made our way to our brand-new home.
We finally arrive at our house, it a pretty place with not many neighbours. We pull up on our driveway and Jay jumps off to open the garage, I look around at all the other houses and see that they have all come out of their front door. Obviously hearing the roar of our engines, one family caught my eye. They had a son; he was first out the door and must have been my age. He was mysterious, with his own leather jacket and messy hair. I just stood there and watched him, watch me until Jay called me from inside the house.
I turn around and walk inside, standing in the corridor I try to work out what part of the house he was in. I hear him call me again and I walk through the living room and into what looked like a conservatory. I see him sitting on a sofa, looking out into the garden. I sit beside him and rest my head on his shoulder.
"Do you think we are going to be safe here Jay?" Even in private we call each other our undercover names, to make sure we never slip up when we have people around us.
"Honestly Annalise, I don't know. I thought we were going to be safe in Louisiana, but Jessica betrayed us, and we have had to start again. I wanted to stay there. For you, I could see the future you and Xavier had. Everyone could see that but now we must forget about that. You have to forget about him, and I have to make sure you are safe." I nod with tears in my eyes, I would give anything to be able to forget him. I told him everything I could about myself, he was my rock and the centre of my universe. How can I just forget about him?
I wipe the tears from my eyes and get up. "I'm going back to get my car. It will be safer if I do it now." I see him nod but doesn't bother to get up to come with me, so I turn and walk out of the house. Putting my hood up, I open google maps and type the address of my destination. Putting in my earphone I follow the robotic voice through little alleyways and along some main roads.
I finally reach the police station and go to walk towards my car, that was until I saw the boy from my neighbourhood walking around it and looking into the windows. He was on the phone to someone, but I couldn't quite hear the conversation. I don't bother to hang around in case he saw me, I quickly turn around and walk back home quicker than I thought was imaginable.
