I start bouncing up and down tugging on his arm. He chuckles as he swipes his card and puts it back in his pocket. Getting the receipt, I go to run ahead but he pulls me back and snakes his arm around my waist shaking his head. Leaning down he whispers in my ear.
"We don't know who could be outside so please don't leave my side." I nod and walk along side George. Opening the door to the restaurant I just stand in the rain, letting it soak through my clothes. Closing my eyes, I smile and sigh as the rain falls down my face.
"I love the smell of rain" I hear a small laugh and I turn towards George hitting his arm. "Don't laugh at me!" He instantly becomes serious and I laugh at him. He smiles down at me and places a hand on my cheek. He leans down and is inches away from my lips when his phone suddenly rings. Closing my eyes, we both sigh and he drops his hand and reaches into his pocket. I watch as he instantly picks it up and walks away, I back into the undercover of the restaurant door, instantly feeling vulnerable. I watch him pace back and forwards, the sadness is evident on his face. He puts the phone back into his pocket and walks towards me. Taking my hand in his he smiles and just leads me to the car.
We drive back in silence, but it was different this time, he seemed tense. As we pull up at my house, he walks me to the front door and places a kiss on my cheek and says goodnight before walking back to his car and driving away. I ignore it and walk inside heading straight to bed.
I wake up and roll over, my phone pings so I sit up in bed. I lean over and unlock it, I open my messages and see a text from George.
I'm sorry to have to do this to you, I wasn't expecting to have to leave so soon. Last night was amazing and I hope that you don't leave before I come back. That phone call last night was to inform me that I am being deployed today. I will miss you so very much and I hope you stay safe.
See you soon

I just stare at my screen. He is leaving. He is leaving me all alone with no protection. Jay doesn't get back till next weekend. I 'm going to be all alone. I jump up from my bed and look out of my window, I see George walking out of his front door. He turns around and I watch as he hands his phone to Alex and then jumps in the jeep. I watch as he drives past my house and down the road, disappearing from my life forever.
I jump back into bed and switch my tv on, logging into Netflix and start browsing. I hear a small knock on the front door and ignore it, starting the one thing I know I can rely on. My all-time favourite show, Friends. I jump as I hear a small knock on my door and someone poops their head in, I sigh as I realise it is Alex and turn my attention back to the show.
"I'm here to check that you're okay." I pause my show and turn my attention to him, narrowing my eyes.
"Do you seriously think I am going to be okay?" He gives me a weak smile and walks towards me. I quickly wipe the tears from my eyes, but I know he has seen them.
"Do you mind if I sit with you?" I shrug my shoulders and press play again. He sits down on my bed beside me and places an arm around the bed frame. No matter how much I try to hold it in, I eventually let out a small sob. I lean into Alex and he puts his arm around me and pulls me closer to him, placing a small kiss on my head he lets me cry it out until I eventually fall asleep.
I wake up, curled into the side of a very warm body. I smile and snuggle closer, hearing a small chuckle I look up to see a shirtless Alex in my bed. I feel my cheeks instantly go bright red and I pull the duvet over my head.
"You don't need to hide from me babe." He lifts the duvet and smiles at me. I wriggle back out and give him a big smile. Leaning over him I check the alarm clock to see it was 7 o'clock.
"You hungry?" He gives me a big goofy smile.
"Of course, I am!" We order 2 large pizzas with 2 sides; they eventually arrive about 45 minutes later and we give them a small tip. We settle down on the sofa and log into Netflix, picking a scary movie we tuck into our food. Halfway through I get caught out with a jump scare and end up sitting in Alex's lap. He smiles down at me and licks his thumb, wiping it on the corner of my mouth. I give him a small smile and a shy thank you before trying to get off his lap.
He wraps his arm around my waist and tells me to stay put, I grab a blanket and place it over us. Cuddling into him I shield my face with the blanket before I get scared again. We stay up all night, talking about anything and everything apart from George. Alex definitely knew how to make me laugh, I paused halfway through his joke and yawned really loudly. He raised an eyebrow.
"Do I make you that bored?" I laughed.
"No, definitely not. I just have stayed up this long since like 6th grade when I thought I was being rebellious." He laughed.
"Let's get you to bed then." I shook my head and held onto his arm.
"Please don't leave me." He gave me a small smile.
"I stay with you until you tell me to leave." I smile and go to walk but Alex shakes his head, picks me up and carries me to my bed. Tucking me in, he places a kiss on my forehead and sits beside me. I cuddle into him and close my eyes.
"Goodnight Alex." I sigh
"Goodnight princess."
