"What the fuck just happened?" Me and Jay both stares straight to each other, panic evident in both of our faces. For a split second I see him drop his guard and I know he wants to tell him, so I give him a small nod before pulling my knees into my chest. This could change everything between me, and George and I don't know if I am ready for that. Xavier didn't even know the full story. I close my eyes as Jay starts talking, wanting to tune everything out but unable to I have to relive the pain of everything all over again.
"Our real names are Joshua and Katherine Jones. We have been on the run for a couple of months from this man called Derek Williams. One night Annalise needed picking up from a party and pa went, none of us knew he had been drinking. He told mom that he was at a business meeting but he was at the bar with some friends. On the way home he swerved into the lane beside him and passed out. The car collided with the other and we thought all the other people died at the scene." I lift my head to see George looking straight at Jay, tears in his eyes.
"They weren't all dead where they?" Jay shakes his head.
"No, they weren't. The father was the only one that survived that crash. He was seriously injured but he did indeed survive. Once he was back on his feet he came straight after us. He wanted payback, he thought Annalise was driving the car as she was the only one he saw." George glances at me and takes my hand in his. I give him a small smile as he speaks.
"This dude killed your dad didn't he, all because he wanted to get revenge on you." I nod as tears escape down my face.
"It's all my fault, and we have now put you in danger." George shakes his head.
"It's good that I know. I can help to protect you whenever you need me." I look at Jay and he gives me a small smile and then looks at his watch.
"We have dinner to get to so we must be going so we can get ready." We stand and George pulls me into a hug. Leaning down to my ear he starts to talk.
"I'm sorry if I upset you earlier but I want you to know that I will always be here for you. No matter if you choose me or my brother." He pulls away and winks at me before walking out of the door.
We get home and quickly get ready, grabbing a bottle of wine from our cupboard, we walk over to the Blacks house. By the end of dinner we were all laughing and joking around, I was sitting in-between the brothers both had their arms around the back of the chair. I left my eyelids start to get heavy and without thinking I stretch and rest my head on George's lap with my feet on Alex's.
I wake up in my own room. Unsure of how I got there, I stretch and look around my room. I see a little note pinned on the inside of my door. I get up, put my slippers on, tie my dressing gown up and walk towards it. Ripping it out of the pin I smile as I start to read it.
'You may have placed your head in my brothers lap
But I was wondering if you wanted to go and grab a frappe?
Make sure you wear something warm
As I've heard it is meant to storm.
I'll pick you up at Eight,
Let's see if this is fate'
I let out a little squeal and Jay comes running into the room. I wave the piece of paper in his face; he just smiles at me and then walks out of the room. I lounge around all day, checking the weather every hour and every hour the weather gets worse and worse. I sigh as I look at the weather one last time, standing in front of my wardrobe. It's telling me heavy rain by 8, I throw my phone across the room and sink to the floor not being able to find anything to wear.
I have a miniature breakdown until there is a knock at the door. I quickly wipe the tears away and stand up calling them in. In front of me stands Jay holding this red polka dot raincoat that looks exactly like a dress. He smiles and places it on my bed, without a single word he walks back out again. I get up off the floor and put my back dress on again, pairing it with the red raincoat I grab my boots and walk down the stairs and wait outside the front door.
Suddenly my car pulls up outside of my house, I stand there shocked until Alex gets out of the driver seat.
"You've got a sweet ride Lise." He walks around and opens the passenger side for me, as he goes to close it, I hear Jay shouting from the porch.
"I may have put you as an eligible driver, but I swear to go that car better be in mint condition when you get home." I hear him chuckle as he closes the front door not letting Alex answer. He walks around to the driver's seat and takes off down the road.
I watch him. Not in a creepy way let me just add. He seems so relaxed behind the wheel; I glance down to see his rope necklace on show again. Instead of reaching for it I talk to him about it.
"What is so special about your necklace?" He looks at me for a moment and raises and eyebrow. "Omg that must have sounded rude, I didn't mean it to come across that way. It's just that I am fascinated- "He raises a hand to cut me off, letting out a small chuckle. He reaches into his shirt and lifts the end of it out. Attached to it was a key.
"I know what you might be thinking and no it isn't just a key. I was left with this key around my neck when I was abandoned on the steps to the black's house. No name, no identity. Just this broken key. They may be my family, but they also are not my family in a way." I look down at the key to see that the bit of the key was broken.
"You believe this will find your family somehow?" He gives me a small nod, making sure his eyes don't leave the road.
"I know it will. There must be some sort of box or safe out there that this key fits into. Something that will tie me to a certain family. I have found who I believe to be my father, but I have never met him. I don't think I even know his real name. This key kinda represents my familys legacy" I give him a small smile.
"This stuff takes time Alex; you have the perfect family back home. I know it must not feel the same, but they all love you like you are their family. Heck, me and Jay thought you were actually family." I let out a little giggle as Alex kills the engine. Turning to me, a small smile plays on his lips.
"Pa isn't sending me to bootcamp anymore." I squeal and pull him in for a hug.
"That's amazing!" He just smiles and point out of the window.
"We are here."
