XVII - Night on waterfall

Beautiful and refreshing is Spring. The first Season. The raw and stiff cold now make room for the awakening of the colors on the plains. Yellow, turquoise and red tones stuffed the fields. It was the season of victory of the light over the inhospitable darkness from Winter.

The bugs also resurfaced on the prairie and with them the flock of migratory birds. They come in millions of individuals from different species. Each one with its different plumage, size, and peep, coming and making nests. Now the birds of prey from the plains could increase their menu, beyond the usual rabbits and rodents.

Also, the humans' hearts, closed by the Winter, were relieved with the new Season. The smiles were back on the face and the parched lips by the cold.

Kalima was waiting for Elise Marie's arrival:

"Elise must arrive today. She will sleep here and then we shall go to the South Coast Village"

And so, it went. When Mat returned from work, Elise Marie had already arrived.

"How long, Elise. You are amazing! Another Doc comes to the Great Isle! A female Doctor! Doctor Elise Marie!"

"Come closer, my old friend from college! Give me a hug! Yup, I can see... My friend took good care of you. Look at you! You look even younger; and happier too!"

"I can say that Elise..." Mat laughed "I don't know if younger, but definitely happier""

Elise Marie was a tall woman, skinny, with a 30's glamour. Nordic traces. Her clothes recalled the Capital merchant bourgeoisie. Had a strong personality and lofty heart. "Yes, and they're fresh too, Elise. They were fished here near, at the river. And the sauce was a special request to my Cook. We have a special guest after all."

"I appreciate the warming welcome, my friend! By the way, how are the things in here?"

"We are doing well. Very well. I've been here at the Inn for almost three years now. It was harsh at the beginning. I purchased this Inn from an old couple that was moving out to West Coast Village. They were very old. I gave a general overview of the installations, took advantage of the same labor and continued the business. Mat arrived here a year ago. He came to meet the place and never left." Said Kalima, laughing.

Mat laughed.

"Yes! I never left! I left for a short period only for graduation then I returned and settled here for definitive. With this beautiful Brunette. For this woman, I would settle even on the Moon!"

"Wow, what a romantic boy! Very different from that stern guy from College. Well, congratulations! You guys are a beautiful couple! It's great to see you guys in this way."
