The trip took two days by train, as for it to arrive at the harbor that leads to the Isle it must cross three provinces. Thus, at that time, the railroad passed through the mountains, making it a longer trip but at the same time a very delightful one. Mat was looking deep at the landscape and trying to conceive how the appearance of Kalima Noisiv was now - as a grown woman.
By the time he arrived at the harbor from the last northern city from the last Province, Mat was looking for the ship that would take him to the Great Isle. This last part of the trip took a few more hours until he could descry that monumental Isle. When checking over the maps from that time, it seemed like another Province.
At the shore, he caught sight of the huge Stoned Hills. He felt from the bottom of his heart at that moment, that it wasn't going to be just a short visit. Mat took a wagon and informed the old man that was conducting it the name of the Inn, the one at the beginning of the road that led to West Coast Village. He nodded and, finally, at the end of day three by the evening, he reached the destination.
Kalima Noisiv was organizing her notes when Mat stepped into the Inn with his cream-colored coat and same-color hat. He was not by far that little boy anymore. Now he was a large man, tall, with broad shoulders. Kalima soon found out that Mat was a sportsman on free time.
Boxing was his weekly practice. His city clothes remembered Kalima her recently-old world. The first impression couldn't be better.
With a wide-open and a little awkward smile, Kalima welcomed Mat. He was equally astonished when saw the lovely lass, and now the establishment's owner, that she became.
She was tall, with outlined body shape. Ebony skin. Eyes and hair as dark and strong as her soul. She had the same warmth from before, but now with the wit acquired from the following years.
They rejoiced the reencounter. They chatted a bit before the manservant could take him to his room. From his window, it was possible to see, deeply away, the navy-blue dark sea.
It was a cold sea that bathed the coast. The wind also blew on strongly by the evening and always seemed to want to tell a gossip brought from the ocean.
The Inn was on a flat land inserted on the isle's wide geography.
This strap of land was indented by the coast and covered with prairies that turned out on the cliff by the northern area. Such a scenic place.
There were trees spread along the long green-grassy sea. Their almost-twisted trunks were from an average height. The fauna was also utterly unique: Little rodents, birds from every color and kinds and ungulate mammals of midsize, but, strangely, no large predators. Foxes and jackals were frequently seen in their way to catch the prey.
Mat, with his own inquiring nature, was dazzled with the uniqueness of that large piece of land. He could only ask himself how that place produced fauna and flora so different from the Continent. The uncertain nature of the Isle inspired him fear but at the same time brought him some peace.
However, at last, it could be told that some dread was hiding within his chest as if the Isle was keeping many secrets under its green turf. In the background, the dark sea was seen.
After his arrival, Kalima got busy spending some time with her old darling. It wasn't very clear even for her why she made the invitation. Maybe the Isle brought to her the will to revive the past. She was already living there for a year and a half ago. With her small dowry was possible for her to build up her Inn skillfully and efficiently.
Build on the between of two Villages, the Inn was in a road of much traffic. Many travelers were used to staying there by night. She calculated that soon she would recover the whole amount invested. Kalima Noisiv was a human being of attitude. A woman beyond her own time. She definitely didn't look like born in that mid-early century.
