"I need you to tell me more about Sister Mary-Eunice's new behavior." Jude claimed.
"She's been trying to hit on Lana for a few days, now." Grace bluntly declared as the reporter tried to escape the room, flushed in embarrassment.
"Mrs. Lana Banana, do you have anything to do with this statement ?" The old nun inquired.
"I swear I never tried to flirt with her in any way ! She is the one trying to hook up with me ! And why are you talking like this ? It feels like I'm in a court of law..." the brunette tried to defend herself.
"When did she start behaving this way ?" Jude questioned.
"Since... since the night the power went out... I sneaked in the nursery to check on her because I had seen medics bringing her there... Arden came in to talk with her, and-" she was cut off by the former nightclub singer.
"What did they talk about ?" Her question sounded more like a command, but Lana didn't mind.
"Um... something about her feeling safe around him... and about some, uh... creatures, too... I don't really clearly remember this night, I'm sorry, Sister..." the reporter sighed.
"No worries. I'll keep a close eye on these two. Thank you, Lana." Jude grinned.
"Oh, wait, actually... the night I broke into this place, she was also speaking about creatures... an there's also this secret tunnel..." Grace's eyes were wide open at the mention of the tunnel : Lana had just ruined each and every one of their chances to escape. "At the back of the bakery, I came in by there, Sister Mary-Eunice led me through it. Actually, I..." she quickly glanced at Grace, persuading her not to say anything, then continued her story. "The night I arrived here, I bumped into her. She helped me coming here, but you already know that. But out there, in the woods, she seemed terrified. I had heard growls, and she was definitely trying to act normal. We heard them once more, she grabbed my wrist and ran back to Briarcliff with me. She was running so fast, it was hard to keep up, but I subconsciously knew that I had not to stop, under any circumstances. That's it for the first night, but I haven't finished yet. Yesterday... Yesterday, during the storm..." she stopped and breathed deeply. "I tried to escape. You know well that I don't belong here. I knew a secret way out, and everyone else was distracted by the movie. So I ran away. I went to the bakery, crossed the tunnel. I finally was free. I didn't waste any time enjoying the rain, I would have plenty of occasions for that after I had come home safely. But as I was running in the woods, I tripped over something. I took a closer look at it... it was a skull, a human skull. And the rest of the skeleton was here too. It was the Mexican." She admitted.
"The Mexican ? How can you be so sure about that ?" The old nun was skeptical, yet curious.
"There were still... parts of her face... on the skull..." Lana gagged at the memory. Jude was outraged by everything the reporter just told her.
"How could this happen just in front of me, and how come I couldn't see anything ?" She thought, confused. "Who did it ? Who killed the Mexican ? Was it Arden ? I'm sure it's him, that's actually great, here's one more thing to arrest him for."
"It wasn't Arden, I'm afraid, Sister..." Lana looked down.
"Then who was it ?" Jude wasn't going to accept anything except the truth.
"It was Sister Mary-Eunice... I heard her doing it, and saw her carrying the body..."
"Lana, are you sure that electroshock therapy isn't playing with your nerves ?" The old nun was uncapable of believing what Lana had just said.
"I know it must be hard for you to accept, but Sister Mary-Eunice has changed..." the brunette sighed. "Besides, the Mexican isn't the only gruesome discovery I've made during the night..." Jude was looking at her, encouraging her to continue. "When I got back up, I laid my eyes on something... even more dreadful than that... I was facing the thing that had probably eaten the poor Mexican... it... it wasn't human, it was... something else. A human silhouette, but its limbs and face were disfigured... I thought I was going to die. I mean it. I came back to Briarcliff way sooner than I had expected." She lightly chuckled. "This... whatever it was, was following me... but fortunately, I got in before it could catch me. I think it was one of Arden's "creatures". The ones Sister Mary-Eunice seemed to be so afraid of. And also, the main reason why Arden is going to end on the electric chair." The brunette checked Jude's expression, which was quite neutral.
"Lana... listen, I know you're a journalist, and tend to exaggerate things, but really ? Zombies ? Created by doctor Arden ? Please, you can do better than that." The old nun didn't believe anything about the "creatures" stuff.
"She's not lying." Grace finally spoke, she didn't want Lana to be punished because of her honesty, she had to take her part of the blame. "I was here too, I... I tried to escape, with her. And I saw this beast, too... I swear I wasn't thinking about getting out alive, I thought our time had come."
"They're telling the truth. I wasn't there when they saw the creature, but we did try to escape, I was in this with 'em." Shelley admitted too. "I was trying to buy some time, when Arden kidnapped me, and tried to rape me..." she was apprehending Jude's reaction, knowing she would call her a whore as well, and tell her that it was her fault if this had happened.
But Jude was, in her former life, a sex-lover, too. She, deep down, understood what the blonde was feeling, and decided to just let it slip, for once. "He's not going away with that, Shelley. I swear it. Lana, Grace, will you take me to where the beasts are supposed to be hiding, tomorrow ? I'd like to take a look at them." She asked.
"Uh... it's really frightening, you know... we can't foresee what our reactions will be, once we'll be in front of them..." Lana hesitated.
"Oh, I'm sorry, Lana..." Jude started. "... I didn't precise it, but that was an order. See you tomorrow, girls." She left the room, as Lana and Grace were trying to put themselves together for the day after.
