"You see, Rei, Sayaka, I have been storing my magic since Homura created this little.. World of her's."
Mami lead Rei and Sayaka down a dark alley behind the apartment complex, her soul gem shining brighter than ever.
"Storing magic?.. What do you?-"
"Mami found a new way to use her soul gem, Rei." Sayaka explained. "Instead of using her magic at all, she sat by and stored, waiting for the perfect time to use it."
"Precisely. I have been storing magic for a few months, now. The things I am capable of would blow your mind." Mami grinned lightly.
The three reach the end of the alley, at a brick wall.
"..Watch."
Mami stepped forward, placing her hand against the back wall, her eyes glowing brightly. She inhales deeply, before pushing forward with all of her might.
Her hand glows a brilliant golden color as the wall begins to waver, before completely shattering against the force! The bricks fall all around her, as dust fills the air.
"What the hell?!" Rei shouted, stepping backward slightly as Sayaka grabbed her hand for reassurance.
Mami cleared her throat, before turning to face Rei and Sayaka.
"I have surpassed the normal limit a magical girl's strength can exceed. In this world, the laws of Kyuubey don't matter. A magical girl can be as powerful as she makes herself.." Mami explained.
".. Which is why Homura is a god, here." Rei concluded.
"Exactly." Mami said, before stepping through the hole in the brick wall, the girls following behind her.
"If Homura Akemi is making herself out to be the Goddess of Despair, then I guess it's only right to have a Goddess of Justice to make her pay for her crimes." Mami said, before turning and facing Rei and Sayaka, her eyes glowing a brilliant golden color. ".. I am going to continue to store magic until the day of the Culling. It is then.. I will try to dethrone Homura." Mami narrowed her eyes.
"Are there any other magical girls out there who know this technique?" Rei asked.
"None that I am aware of. If I compete in the Culling, I will be able to climb the leader board and defeat every magical girl from the neighboring cities.. I will ensure Madoka's safety." Mami said.
".. Which is why you came to me about the Culling, discouraging me from competing in it." Rei turned to Sayaka, who only sheepishly grinned.
"Your competition is no longer necessary, Rei, instead.. I would like to ask you to go behind the scenes with Sayaka." Mami said. ".. You're aware of how the Culling works, right?"
".. Kind of.. It all takes place inside Homura's witch barrier.. Where she controls the environment, the setting.. That's all I'm aware of." Rei tilted her head.
