CHAPTER TWENTY-EIGHT | IT'S OKAY TO BE STRAIGHTFORWARD

✡✡✡

I sighed, "It's good to be back here."

School has ended, and I decided to come to Daily Grind since we haven't been here for a while. The boys are also here with me, as we sat on the island where Amber was wiping down the table while Xavier was making a coffee for a customer. I hadn't quit, but my shifts have been lessened. Giovani hasn't been well these past few weeks, he's been arguing with his wife and he's been stressed more than ever. Despite him being in a foul mood, he's always smiling when's he with Xavier and Amber, they're like a happy family and it always warms my heart seeing the three together.

"Hey, Amber?" I asked quietly, whispering to her as the boys talked to Xavier. She turned, looking at me sweetly before nodding for me to continue. "What happened between you and... my brother?"

Amber sighed, sitting down and looking at me. "Well, I broke up with him. I didn't feel like our relationship was healthy, all we did was have sex and that's it. I felt like a burden and just decided to end it. He's a great guy and all, I just feel like he doesn't like me for who I am."

"I didn't know that, but if there's anything I can do, I would be glad to help you. If you want, I can punch him for you!" I told her as if it was obvious, and she laughed, ruffling my hair and held onto my hand.

"Don't worry about me, kiddo. It was best for us to separate," she was smiling, however, I couldn't help but frown at her smile. Her whole expression looked fake, and the fact that my brother made her feel like this made me angry. "So, how's it going with the boys?"

I wanted to talk more about her. She always switched the topic when we talked about her, and always wanted to talk about me. I don't know much about her, and it's as if her least favourite topic is herself. I decided not to push it, "It's going well, nothing too exciting to talk about."

She smiled, "I'm glad they're making you happy. You've been more... alive these past few days. It makes me happy, you should smile more kiddo. As cheesy as it sounds your smile is absolutely gorgeous."

I almost choked on my spit from the complement, my cheeks getting warm as she laughed at my state. To make me even more embarrassed, she got up and, went around the counter and leaned down whisper seductively in my ear, "I like it when you're all red, it makes me want to--,"

"Amber, there's a whole table full of customers there! Get to work!" Xavier exclaimed, pushing Amber so she was far from my contact.

"Okay, sorry," she told him, laughing slightly. Once Xavier turned around, she threw me a wink before walking away to get their orders.

Sighing, I turned to Xavier as he exited the staffs only room. He scanned the room before he sat down across from me and smiled. "So, how's my favourite girl doing?"

I shrugged. "What about Amber? Shouldn't she be your favourite girl?"

"Whatever," he muttered, making me laugh, "you know, your boyfriends are really chaotic."

He pointed behind me, making me turn and sigh.

Jaxon was throwing fries in Carter's mouth, while Ethan recorded them. They were in a booth, making them position awkwardly. Jaxon was on his knees, throwing fry after fry. Ethan was turned to the left, making sure to record both of them. I laughed, "Yep, they're definitely chaotic. That's one of many reasons I love them though."
