CHAPTER FOURTEEN | NORAH, DON'T ARGUE WITH ME
×I opened the door to our house, softly closing the door behind me.
It was really late, almost midnight. The guys and I lost track of time. After the party, we decided to hang out at the arcade. I had so much fun with them, but I just didn't know why they acted weird with me today. There was still a little bit of tension around us, but after getting to the arcade, we forgot about all our worries and just let loose and relaxed. Ethan told me that he was sorry for Jaxon's behaviour and that he won't let him do it again. I wasn't mad, I was confused. So, I told him it was fine and we both exchanged smiles. They dropped me off at home and now, I'm standing in the middle of the dark living room.
Quietly, I made my way across the room, about to walk upstairs when a voice was heard behind me.
"Where were you?"
I gasped, turning around. I almost lost balance at how suddenly Cayden said that. He turned the lights on, leaning against the dining room table. He had bags under his eyes as if he was completely exhausted. His expression had anger in it, and I could tell. Except, he decided to keep calm, his lips in a thin line. Both his eyebrows were raised as if he was waiting for me to answer. His arms were crossed, his eyes boring into mine. "Well?"
I coughed, looking at the ground. "I went to a party with the guys..."
I heard him scoff.
I decided to look at him. "Why? You shouldn't be going to parties like that. Who knows what could happen to you! People lose their minds at parties, especially high school parties! I get it, you're eighteen, now, but at least let me know where you're going! I was worried sick, I stayed up all night for you! Norah, can you be a little more responsible--, "
"Stop it!" I yelled, anger rising in me. Cayden's expression darkened, but I didn't care. "Why are you treating me like a five-year-old? I can take care of myself Cayden! I've been doing it for two years now! Sometimes, I just want to have fun and actually be a teenager! Why are you stopping me from doing what I want to do--!"
"I'm not stopping you! I'm trying to protect you! Do you realize that I love you, I'm just looking out for you, okay? So many people are against you! First, it's those brothers of mine, then there's Logan, who even got the whole school against you! do you know how hard it is to protect you when you're not letting me?!" He shouted right back at me, tears forming at the corner of his eyes. "Norah, you're the only one there for me! Can you please just listen to me?"
I stayed quiet, watching how his tears ran down his red cheeks. I heard the stairs creaking behind me. "What is happening down here--, "
"Shut up!" I said, gritting my teeth. I turned around, facing the rest of my brothers, minus Avery. Something in me snapped, I walked towards Cayden, wiping his tears away. However, he slapped my arms away, glaring into my eyes, before storming past me and the others. "Cayden wait! I'm so sorry!"
I looked down, tears pooling in my eyes but I blinked them away. I don't like arguing with the person I know loves me. The other four stared at me, but that's when I felt someone pulling me into a hug, making me flinch.
