Clementine stood outside the arena alongside the other examinees, listening as Nedzu explained the rules for the next stage.

"The next stage will be an improvised game of hide and seek against Snipe. Winning requires you to disarm or immobilize him. You're 'out' if Snipe hits you. Don't worry though, they aren't real bullets, only paintball ones."

'Are you ready Rosie?'

'Duh! Let's do this.'

'Be careful, alright?' Ruby warned.

'I'm not patching you two up when this inevitably goes wrong.' Sunila said.

"This should be fairly easy as long as you stay hidden. You have five minutes to hide before Snipe enters the arena. Start."

Clementine ran through the building, waving the fake smoke out of her face.

Whoever designed the arenas had decided to make this building based off a night club, complete with dimmed lights and blinding neon paint. She had passed several rooms with the same green-blue coloured bar and red grid patterned ceiling and had concluded that the building was made up of identical rooms and pathways.

'Probably to make it easier for Snipe. Memorise one section and you've got every place accounted for.' Ruby said.

'And to make it confusing. Seeing the same thing over and over again will make contestants assume they're walking in circles!' Rosie added.

Clementine had considered that option previously, but quickly shot it down after she knocked a bar stool over in one room and not seeing it knocked over in any other room.

'Shouldn't we be finding a hiding place?' Sunila asked.

'On it.' Clementine responded.

Miyuki's left eye glowed, switching to Clementine's orange. She got into a stance, shifting her weight into her back leg. The area around her foot sizzled as her sparks swirled around her foot.

"Time's up." The speakers warned.

She shot forward, bright burning amber sparks trailing her. She pushed off a wall, to the next, then back, then back and so forth, zigzagging between the walls.

They passed more identical rooms, from red floored arcade rooms to citron booths by lime bars. They paused when they came to a large open room, speakers lining the walls and a purple checkered dance floor.

The sound of footsteps caused Clementine to duck down behind the dividers between the dance floor and seating, her eye flickering back to blue. Hushed voices followed as the culprits entered the room.

"I told you we're walking in circles! This is the third time I've seen this room." A feminine voice loudly complained.

"Keep it down. We can't give away our position." A deep masculine voice responded.

"Let's keep going. Maybe we'll get back on track." The girl said.

"Wait." The other said. "There's someone else here."

'Damn.' Viola said.

'Maybe they can help us?' Rosie wondered.

'Or we can help them. Since they haven't figured out the layout.' Ruby added.

"Uh, hi?" Clementine said as she rose from her hiding spot. She spotted the speakers standing in the middle of the dance-floor.

The girl had some sort of bug related quirk, judging by the pink skin and yellow bug-like eyes and yellow tipped antenna, paired with a short black bob and a bright electric-blue shirt. The boy was the same one from the rope obstacle, with cracked rock-like skin, wavy dark red hair and small black-hole eyes.
