Miyuki wearily opened her eyes at the sound of incessant beeping, curtesy of her alarm clock. She groaned, rolling over. Pounding her hand against the alarm's off button in irritation, she only succeeded in knocking it off her nightstand.
Sitting up, she stared at it apathetically, hoping her stare would will it to move back into place. After a few seconds of quiet disappointment, she finally lifted herself out of bed, placing it back on the stand.
When she made her way downstairs, she was greeted with the sweet smell of freshly made waffles wafting through the house. Walking up to the kitchen, she found Kagami at the stove, pouring more batter into a waffle iron.
Kagami was a short, serious-looking woman; long wispy black hair in a braid, reaching down to her waist, and silvery white eyes, making her appear almost ethereal. Despite her wife Aaliyah towering over her, she always managed to be the most intimidating one in the room, even rivalling Ms. Shimizu in some respects.
Noticing her daughter's arrival, Kagami turned to Miyuki and gave her a warm smile, juxtaposed against her cold façade.
"Good morning, Miyuki." She said, voice low and purposeful despite the domestic setting. "How many waffles would you like?"
"Ten!" Rosie burst out, the sugar drawing her in like a ravenous shark to fresh blood.
"Just two." Miyuki corrected after a beat.
Kagami smiled again, used to the sudden switches, and placed two waffles on a plate, handing it to Miyuki.
"Thank you!" Rosie sang as they dug in.
"You're welcome." Kagami said as she sat down with her own serving. "Aaliyah is at the agency right now, she had to file some accident reports for the raid last night." Miyuki swallowed a mouthful before speaking.
"When will she be back?"
"It should only take a few hours, but she might get held up by the new intern." Kagami answered.
"My friends want to meet up at the food court to celebrate me getting into Yuuei." Miyuki started. "Could you or Mama pick me up after? At around 5."
"Are you sure? You're still recovering from quirk exhaustion; I don't want you to strain yourself." Kagami said.
"Yep! Recovery Girl checked me over before you picked me up and it wasn't anything serious."
"Alright then. Aaliyah will pick you up, I'm busy this afternoon." Kagami said, vaguely.
Miyuki pieced together that it was hero business. Having both her mothers be underground heroes made her used to the vague excuses and random scheduling.
"Okay then, I'll go get ready!"

Miyuki stood beside the mall's food court, nervously shuffling from side to side. She re-adjusted her hairpins for the tenth time, trying not to mess up her newly done hair.
She'd always wanted to cut it to a more manageable bob, like the one she had in the inner world, but the majority of the system was used to the longer hair. She already looked nearly identical to the body, she didn't need to add hair length to that tally as well.
She felt her phone buzz in her messenger bag again, no doubt another confused text from Fujimori. While she understood the promise Ivy had made, and the exchanging of numbers with their new friend? acquaintance? former short-term enemy?, that didn't mean she wasn't dreading the eventual confrontation.
