Something was wrong.

His students had been pestering him since the race to watch the other stages, even managing to get Mic on board for god's sake. He'd been so tired from dealing with all the phone calls from angry parents of examinees who'd failed, he'd easily conceded to letting them watch the fourth stage.

The annoyance he'd felt at being forced onto the examination board by Nedzu slowly embedded away, replaced with a newfound curiosity with one Rayan Miyuki.

Her file had been sparse, her quirk description being marked only with a 'unspecified' and a note from her therapist. He'd hoped to be able to confirm his theory on her quirk.

The stage had started out normally, each examinee showing equal promise.

He'd expected Mushanokoji to take the lead, but the boy had run straight into the trap set by Nedzu. With each pipe being made of a different metal, the boy had been unable to escape the makeshift jail within the time limit.

Fujimori had also done well, managing to avoid the many traps set: the metal pipes full of water, pressure plated pitfalls and fake cardboard footholds. Her caution had caused her to lose the speed advantage she'd had though, and Miller was quick to take the win.

Miller had practically disappeared after being released into the arena, staying low to the ground where the maze was the most twisted. She seemed to have figured out some sort of system, because she easily made her way to Nedzu and swiftly captured him.

Rayan had lagged behind, choosing an odd path of alternating between both jumping and teleporting across the higher levels rather than finding a more stable route. She seemed confident in her strategy, so Aizawa didn't expend any extra focus on her actions.

He regretted that greatly.

As soon as the camera feed cut out, a cold feeling of dread snaked its way across Aizawa's spine, curling around his neck and making it a labour to breathe. Just before the footage had flickered to static, he'd seen a glimpse of falling piping and heard a familiar clang of metal on metal.

Mic shouted a warning to the examinees to stay put as they all rushed to see the damage; the panic that had ensued in the monitoring room almost drowning out Miller's victory announcement.

Rayan had been in the section of where the collapse occurred, and he wasn't so sure her quirk would help her this time.

Viola blinked, resisting the urge to rub them despite the irritation caused by the dusty air. She wearily took in her surroundings, the situation not quite hitting her.

She felt something cool slide down her forehead and she lifted her fingers to touch it. As she lifted her hand up towards the light, she could see the crimson drops sliding down her hand. Viola only blinked at the sight of blood staining her fingers.

'Oh.'

She registered a dull thumping in her head and figured she must've hit her head at some point; that would certainly explain the blood.

She took her clean hand and wiped at her face, trying to get rid of the tears. She shifted to the side, the pain in her ankle sparking up again.

'Stay still.' Ruby gently instructed. 'You might've broken something, moving will only make it worse, especially with all the debris.'

She took a shaky breath, trying to calm herself.

'Is everyone else okay?'

'Yes. Clem couldn't handle it and started dissociating. Saffron is looking after her. The others are okay, if a little shaken.' Came the reply.
